Javed Khan (executive)
Javed Akhter Khan was the chief executive of Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity from 2014-2021, having previously been chief executive of Victim Support. Early life Khan's parents emigrated from Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, and he grew up in Birmingham, England. He has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Salford, after which he trained to be a teacher. Career After training to be a teacher, Javed Khan later worked as a director of education in local government, then the Government Office for London, before becoming CEO of Victim Support. In 2014 he was appointed CEO of Barnardos before stepping down in 2021. Mohammed Ajeeb
Mohammed Ajeeb CBE (born 1938) is a former Lord Mayor of Bradford, and was the first Asian (Kashmiri) Lord Mayor in the United Kingdom. Biography Mohammed Ajeeb was born in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir in 1938. Ajeeb attended Dadyal High School and then studied at a local college in the district and went on to study at Karachi University. Ajeeb moved to Britain in 1957, and settled in Nottingham, working first in a soap factory, and then in public transport. He was also a housing officer with the District Community Relations Committee. In 1973 he was appointed Assistant Director of ''SHARE'' (Shelter Housing and Reneval Experiment, in Bradford and went on to become the director in 1976. After joining the Labour Party in 1974, Ajeeb became Chairman of the Bradford Community Relations Council in 1977 and was elected to Bradford Metropolitan District Council in 1979. Chauhdry Abdul Rashid
Chauhdry Abdul Rashid, JP (7 January 1941 – 1 May 2024) was a Pakistani-born politician who served as Lord Mayor of Birmingham. He was one of three councillors representing the Bordesley ward in the heart of the city. Background Abdul Rashid was born in Dadyal, Jammu and Kashmir, British India (now in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan) on 7 January 1941. He was educated at Ratta Middle School and left school aged thirteen in 1954. In 1955 he emigrated to the United Kingdom where he worked in the northern coastal town of Workington, Cumbria for seven and a half years. Fixed telephony The area codes in Pakistan consists of two to five digits; generally smaller the city, longer the prefix. All large cities have two-digit codes. The smaller towns might have six digital whereas big cities have seven digit numbers. Azad Kashmir telephone lines contain five digits. On 1 July 2009, telephone numbers in Karachi and Lahore were changed from seven digits to eight digits. This was accomplished by adding 9 to the beginning of all phone numbers that started with a 9 i.e. government and semi-government lines and adding 3 to all other lines.
