Sint-Katelijne-Waver (, old spelling: ''Kathelijne-Waver''; , ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver and Sint-Katelijne-Waver proper. In 2021, Sint-Katelijne-Waver had a total population of 21,197. The total area is 36.12 km2. Roosendael, a ruined relic of a cistercian abbey is situated here and today hosts a youth and touristic centre with pleasant walkways. Economic activities Sint-Katelijne-Waver is a centre for market gardening and has many greenhouses. The Mechelse Veilingen in Sint-Katelijne-Waver is the largest co-operative vegetable auction in Europe. Jef Andries
Jef Andries (18 January 1919 – 26 September 2006) was a Belgian footballer. He played for Mechelen from 1936 until 1955. Biography Andries grew up in the hamlet of Elzestraat in Sint-Katelijne-Waver. In the 1940s he became one of the star players of FC Malinois, where he played on the right wing. With this team he became national champion in the 1942–43, 1945–46 and 1947–48 seasons. He was also selected four times for the Red Devils, without playing a single international match. He died at the age of 87 in the hospital of Duffel. Roosendael Abbey
Roosendael Abbey (the abbey of the valley of roses) was a community of Cistercian nuns, founded in the 13th century on the banks of the River Nete in the Duchy of Brabant, at a location now in , in the Sint-Katelijne-Waver municipality. The monastery was established in or before 1227 by the nobleman Gillis Berthout, according to later tradition for his daughters Elizabeth and Oda. An early member of the community who gave it a wider reputation for sanctity was Blessed Ida of Louvain. Lier (; ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. Jean Dockx
Jean Baptiste Dockx (24 May 1941 – 15 January 2002) was a Belgian footballer who played as a midfielder for Mechelen, Racing White and Anderlecht, and also for the Belgium national team in the 1970 FIFA World Cup and the 1972 UEFA European Football Championship. He was later a manager, and was caretaker manager of Anderlecht in 1999. On 15 January 2002, Dockx died unexpectedly at the age of 60 from a traumatic aortic rupture. Anderlecht paid a lot of attention to his death and praised him as one of the most valuable players the club had ever had. In 2005 he was nominated for the title ''De Grootste Belg'' (The Greatest Belgian), but did not make it to the final nomination list.
