Public Housing In Hong Kong
Public housing in Hong Kong is a set of mass housing programmes through which the Government of Hong Kong provides affordable housing for lower-income residents. It is a major component of housing in Hong Kong, with nearly half of the population now residing in some form of public housing. The public housing policy dates to 1954, after Shek Kip Mei Fire, a fire in Shek Kip Mei destroyed thousands of shanty town, shanty homes and prompted the government to begin constructing homes for the poor. Public housing is mainly built by the Hong Kong Housing Authority and the Hong Kong Housing Society. Rents and prices are significantly lower than those for Private housing estates in Hong Kong, private housing and are heavily subsidy, subsidised by the government, with revenues partially recovered from sources such as rents and charges collected from car parks and shops within or near the residences. Wah Fu Estate () is a Public housing in Hong Kong, public housing estate located next to Waterfall Bay, Hong Kong, Waterfall Bay, Pok Fu Lam in Hong Kong's Southern District, Hong Kong, Southern District. It was built on a New towns of Hong Kong, new town concept in 1967 and was renovated in 2003. Divided into Wah Fu (I) Estate () and Wah Fu (II) Estate (), the whole estate has a total of 18 residential blocks completed between 1967 and 1978. There are several primary and secondary schools in the estate, including Pui Ying Secondary School, SKH Lui Ming Choi Secondary School and Caritas Chong Yut Ming Secondary School. Shek Pai Wan Estate
Shek Pai Wan Estate () is a public housing estate in Shek Pai Wan of Aberdeen, Hong Kong, on a hill to the east of the town centre. It comprises eight standard residential blocks, a non-standard small household block, a primary school, a shopping centre and a bus terminus. Background Shek Pai Wan Estate was a resettlement estate and it consisted of seven blocks built between 1966 and 1968. In 1985, Block 2 was found to have structural problems by the Hong Kong Housing Authority, so it was firstly demolished in 1988. The estate started redevelopment in 1998 and the redevelopment project was divided into three phases. Waterfall Bay, Hong Kong
Waterfall Bay or Pok Po Wan () is a bay in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Located on the East Lamma Channel off the coast of Wah Fu Estate and Cyberport at Telegraph Bay, it is named after the waterfall that flows into it. The fresh water from this waterfall is said to have given the city its name – the translation of Hong Kong's name in Cantonese 香港 means "fragrant harbour". An eponymous park is now situated around the area. Kellett Bay
Kellett Bay (), or Kai Lung Wan () is a bay on southwestern Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong, to the southeast of Waterfall Bay. The pronunciation of ''Wan'' () in ''Kai Lung Wan'' in the Cantonese language is like the one in (as in Cheung Sha Wan, To Kwa Wan and Causeway Bay (''Tung Lo Wan'')). Aberdeen, Hong Kong
Aberdeen ( ; Chinese: 香港仔; ) is an area on southwest Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the Southern District.
