Quarry Bay is an List of buildings, sites, and areas in Hong Kong, area beneath Mount Parker (Hong Kong), Mount Parker in the Eastern District, Hong Kong, Eastern District of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. Quarry Bay is bordered by Sai Wan Ho to the east, Mount Parker (Hong Kong), Mount Parker to the south, North Point to the west, and Victoria Harbour to the north. Quarry Bay is a residential and business district in Hong Kong. One Island East, the seventh tallest building in Hong Kong, is located in Quarry Bay. Gazetteer Of Xin'an County
''Xin'an Xianzhi'' (; literally ''Gazetteers of Xin'an County''), also known as San On County Gazetteer or San On Gazetteer in English, were the chorography of the historical Xin'an County (San-On or Sun-On County; literally ''New Peace County''; known at times as the Po-On County (spelt Bao'an in pinyin)) of Guangdong (then Kwangtung) in southern China. Due to frequent geopolitical changes, the county ceased to exist and became the history and territories of Hong Kong and Shenzhen, metropolises in South China. Versions of the gazetteer are very important records to study in the area. Six editions were published, the first one in 1587 and the last one in 1819. Tseung Kwan O Line
The Tseung Kwan O line () is one of the ten lines of the MTR system in Hong Kong. It is currently long, taking 15 minutes to travel throughout the entire line. It is indicated in on the MTR map. The line runs from North Point on the Hong Kong Island to the new town of Tseung Kwan O. It bifurcates east of Tseung Kwan O station into two branches, one northward to Po Lam and one southward to LOHAS Park. The Tseung Kwan O Depot at LOHAS Park is responsible for the maintenance of the line's rolling stock. During the morning peak period, the Tseung Kwan O line uses 15 trains to maintain a frequency of 2.5 minutes between Tseung Kwan O and North Point. Island Line (MTR)
The Island line () is one of ten lines of the MTR, the mass transit system in Hong Kong. It runs from Kennedy Town in the Western district to Chai Wan in the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island, passing through the territory's major business districts of Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, and connecting them with built-up areas on the north shore of the island. The line first opened on 31 May 1985. As of 2022 it travels in 25 minutes along its route, serving 17 stations. It is indicated in on the MTR map. Taikoo Station
Tai Koo () is a station on the of the Hong Kong MTR system. The station is located in Kornhill, Quarry Bay on Hong Kong Island and serves the area including Kornhill, Kornhill Gardens and Taikoo Shing. Tai Koo has a unique crimson livery. The station was named for Taikoo Shing, the large-scale residential development built on the former site of Taikoo Dockyard, a Swire company, "Taikoo" being the Romanisation of the latter's Chinese name. History Dragages et Travaux Publics (later Dragages Hong Kong) was awarded as the contractor of the station and construction began in 1982. The works comprised twin tunnels and a station built in a 24-metre span rock cavern. Excavation of the station cavern was completed in October 1983. Quarry Bay Station
Quarry Bay (; Cantonese Yale: Jāk'yùhchūng) is a station on the and of the MTR in Quarry Bay on Hong Kong Island. The station livery is teal green. Location As with all stations on the Island line, Quarry Bay is located on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island. Platforms 1 and 2 are built beneath King's Road to Pak Fuk Road. Platforms 3 and 4 are built beneath King's Road to the south of Model Housing Estate. History The construction contract was awarded to Paul Y. Construction (now Paul Y. Kornhill and Kornhill Gardens are apartment buildings on the northern slope of Mount Parker, in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Kornhill is a private housing estate and Kornhill Gardens is a Private Sector Participation Scheme estate. The total population is approximately 30,000. History The name comes from a small hill within the area close to the foot of Mount Parker. Kornhill was the site of the company residence of the senior manager of the Taikoo Sugar Refinery and the first senior manager was Ferdinand Korn. The hill was almost levelled by the early 1980s, and can hardly be recognised. The modern-day housing estate was constructed in concert with the MTR Island line and opened by 1987.
