The Northern Peninsula Area Region is a local government area in Far North Queensland, Australia, covering areas on the northwestern coast of Cape York Peninsula. It was created in March 2008 out of three Aboriginal Shires and two autonomous Island Councils during a period of statewide local government reform. Umagico is a town and coastal locality in the Northern Peninsula Area Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Umagico had a population of 394 people. Umagico is one of the five communities which collectively form the Northern Peninsula Area. The landmass of the Northern Peninsula Area consists of in the northernmost region of Cape York Peninsula. Seisia is a coastal town and a Suburbs and localities (Australia), locality in the Northern Peninsula Area Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Seisia had a population of 293 people. Geography Seisia is the area north of New Mapoon, Queensland, New Mapoon and west of Bamaga, Queensland, Bamaga on Cape York Peninsula. Albany Island
Albany Island or Pabaju is an island off the north-eastern coast of Cape York Peninsula in the Adolphus Channel of Queensland, Australia. It is within the locality of Somerset in the Shire of Torres. Geography Albany Island is off the north-eastern coast in the Cape York Peninsula about East of Bamaga, and southeast of the tip of Cape York. It is separated from the peninsula by the Albany Passage (). The island is a part of the Maner group of islands and the Torres Strait Islands; it is about long and is volcanic with fringing coral reefs. It is said to have been certainly part of the territory of the Djagaraga or Gudang people. The island was surveyed in 1848 by Owen Stanley RN and part of the island was named Port Albany (). Somerset is a coastal locality split between the Shire of Torres and the Northern Peninsula Area Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Somerset had "no people or a very low population". Geography Somerset is the northernmost locality on the Cape York Peninsula and also of the Queensland mainland with Cape York at the northernmost point. Gudang or Djagaraga (Pantyinamu/Yatay/Gudang/Kartalaiga and other clans) is an Australian Aboriginal language. It is the traditional language of the Gudang people, and is the northernmost language of the Cape York Peninsula. A Deed of Grant in Trust (DOGIT) is the name for a system of community-level land trust established in Queensland to administer former Aboriginal reserves and missions. They came about through the enactment by the Queensland Government of the '' Community Services (Torres Strait) Act 1984'' and '' Community Services (Aborigines) Act 1984'' in 1984, allowing community councils to be created to own and administer former Aboriginal reserves or missions under a Deed of Grant in Trust). The trusts are governed by local representatives who are elected every three years to councils called Incorporated Aboriginal Councils.
