Gears Of War
''Gears of War'' (also referred to as ''Gears'') is a media franchise centered on a series of video games created by Epic Games, developed and managed by The Coalition (company), The Coalition, and owned and published by Xbox Game Studios. The franchise is best known for its third-person shooter video games, which has been supplemented by spin-off video game titles, a DC comic book series, eight novels, a board game adaptation and various merchandise. The original trilogy focuses on the conflict between humanity and the subterranean reptilian humanoid known as the Locust Horde on the world of Sera. The first installment, ''Gears of War (video game), Gears of War'', was released on November 7, 2006, for the Xbox 360. The game follows protagonist Marcus Fenix, a soldier in the Coalition of Ordered Governments tasked to lead a last-ditch effort to destroy the Locust Horde and save humanity. ''Gears of War 2'' is a 2008 third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360. It is the second installment of the Gears of War, ''Gears of War'' series, with lead design by Cliff Bleszinski. The game was released in North America, Europe and Australia on November 7, 2008, and was released in Japan on July 30, 2009. The game expands technically on the Gears of War (video game), previous game by using a modified Unreal Engine 3. The development team brought in comic book writer Joshua Ortega to help write the plot for the game. In ''Gears of War 2'', the COG continues its fight against the Locust, who are attempting to sink all of the cities on the planet Sera. People Can Fly
People Can Fly is a Polish video game developer based in Warsaw. The studio was founded in February 2002 by Adrian Chmielarz, previously the co-founder of Metropolis Software, together with acquaintances Michał Kosieradzki and Andrzej Poznański. The studio's first game was ''Painkiller'' (2004). Its success led to a deal with THQ for the game ''Come Midnight'', which allowed the studio to expand. After the game was cancelled, People Can Fly found itself in financial trouble. Epic Games acquired a majority share in People Can Fly in August 2007 and collaborated with the studio on projects such as '' Bulletstorm'' (2011) and '' Gears of War: Judgment'' (2013). Epic bought the studio outright in August 2012. Chmielarz, Kosieradzki and Poznański subsequently left the studio and later founded The Astronauts. ''Kill Switch'' (stylized as ''kill.switch'') is a third-person shooter video game developed and published by Namco Hometek for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. A port for Microsoft Windows was released in 2004 while an abridged Game Boy Advance port developed by Visual Impact was released the same year. The PAL release of the PS2 port came with a demo of '' SOCOM II U.S. Navy SEALs'' on a separate disc, as Sony Computer Entertainment released the game in Europe. ''Resident Evil 4'' is a 2005 survival horror game developed and published by Capcom for the GameCube. Players control the special agent Leon S. Cliff Bleszinski (; born February 12, 1975), popularly known as CliffyB, is an American video game designer, known for his work on the '' Unreal'' and ''Gears of War'' series while at Epic Games. After leaving Epic in 2012, he co-founded Boss Key Productions in 2014 which closed in 2018 after the commercial failure of the multiplayer shooter '' LawBreakers''. Since Boss Key's closure, Bleszinski has spent his time with theater and writing. Career Bleszinski's first game was '' The Palace of Deceit'', an adventure title he started at the age of 15. Programmed in Visual Basic, its second version came out when he was 16.
