The Cóndores UNAM (English: ''UNAM Condors''), was one of the three American football teams that represented the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 1970 to 1997. The Cóndores competed in the ONEFA and won 10 National Championships, including four in a row from 1983 to 1986. History Background American football was first played in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1927, when several students that spent some time in American schools and have played the sport returned to Mexico. The team's first name was Osos (Bears) and navy blue and gold were chosen as the colors, inspired by the colors of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Estadio Olímpico Universitario
Estadio Olímpico Universitario is a multi-purpose stadium located inside Ciudad Universitaria in Mexico City. It was built in 1952 and at that time was the largest stadium in Mexico. This stadium has a capacity of 72,000. The first major event held in the stadium was the 1955 Pan American Games. During the 1950s and the 1960s this stadium was used mostly for college American football matches between the largest Mexican public universities at the time: UNAM and IPN. The National Autonomous University of Mexico ( es, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM), is a public research university in Mexico. The Condors LFA or Condors CDMX, were an American football team that began in Mexico City, Mexico. The Condors competed in the LFA, the top American football league in Mexico. The team had won Tazon Mexico IV. History The team was founded in 2015 as one of the charter members of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional, alongside Eagles, Mayas and Raptors. The club's name and colours were chosen as a remembrance to the defunct college football team Cóndores of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, which played from 1970 to 1998, winning 10 National Championships. Coyoacán
Coyoacán ( , ) is a borough (''demarcación territorial'') in Mexico City. The former village is now the borough's "historic center". The name comes from Nahuatl and most likely means "place of coyotes", when the Aztecs named a pre-Hispanic village on the southern shore of Lake Texcoco dominated by the Tepanec people.
