The Czechoslovakia national basketball team (, ) represented Czechoslovakia in international basketball from 1932 to 1992. After the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the Czech Republic and Slovakia set up their own national teams. Both teams are recognized as the successor to the Czechoslovak team. EuroBasket, also commonly referred to as the European Basketball Championship, is the main international basketball competition that is contested quadrennially, by the senior men's national teams that are governed by FIBA Europe, which is the European zone within the FIBA, International Basketball Federation. The competition was first held in EuroBasket 1935, 1935. The former Soviet Union men's national basketball team, Soviet Union holds the record for most gold medals with a total of 14. The tournament is generally held in August or September, in the offseason of major club competitions. Slovak Republic National Basketball Team
The Slovakia men's national basketball team () represents Slovakia in international basketball competition. The supervising body is the Slovak Basketball Association (SBA). Slovakia is one of the newest national basketball teams in the world, having split from Czechoslovakia following the dissolution of the unified state in 1993. The Italy men's national basketball team () represents Italy in international basketball tournaments. They are administered by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP). The Egypt national basketball team represents Egypt in international basketball competitions. The team is directed by the Egyptian Basketball Federation. Winning the title of the EuroBasket 1949 has been the team's most celebrated achievement. They are the only non-European nation to win the competition. The Estonia men's national basketball team () represents Estonia in international basketball matches. They are controlled by the Estonian Basketball Association. The 1937 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1937, was the second FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA. Eight national teams affiliated with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) took part in the competition. Defending champions Latvia hosted the tournament, held in Riga.
