Grace Cuthbert-Browne
Grace Cuthbert-Browne (2 January 1900 – 17 December 1988) was an Australian medical doctor instrumental in improving the health of mothers and babies, and the consequent reduction in maternal and infant deaths in Australia. She was Director of Maternal and Baby Welfare in the New South Wales Department of Public Health from 1937 to 1964; during this time the infant fatality rate decreased form 40 to 20 per thousand live births. Early life and education Grace Johnston Cuthbert was born in Port Glasgow, Scotland, 2 January 1900. She was the youngest of five children. Her mother, Mary. later became involved in a variety humanitarian and medical charities. Her father was a merchant sailor who captained ships from New Zealand to England carrying frozen mutton. Ross Cuthbert (politician)
Ross Cuthbert (February 17, 1776 – August 28, 1861) was a Canadian writer, lawyer and politician. Born at Berthier and baptised at Montreal, as the son of James Cuthbert, he was heir to the seigneuries of Lanoraie and Dautray. He studied at Douai in France and completed his studies in law in Philadelphia where he married Emily Rush, daughter of Benjamin Rush, one of the signatories of the United States ''Declaration of Independence''. In 1809, Cuthbert was elected a member of the American Philosophical Society. Cuthbert sat at the Executive Council and represented Warwick County (later Berthier) in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada. He published '' Aéropage'' in Quebec City in 1803 and ''New theory of the tides'' in 1810. He died in Berthier-en-Haut, Canada East in 1861. Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn (born 9 April 1964) is a Jamaican politician and retired track and field sprinter who competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres. As an athlete, Cuthbert-Flynn competed at four Olympic Games, winning two silver medals at the 1992 games held in Barcelona. Josh Cuthbert
Union J were an English boy band, consisting of members JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, George Shelley and Josh Cuthbert. Shelley left the group in 2016 and was replaced by Casey Johnson, who left several months later, Cuthbert left the group in 2018 leaving the band as duo until they disbanded in 2019. The band formed in 2011, originally as a trio known as Triple J, consisting of Cuthbert, Hamblett and Hensley. They auditioned for the ninth series of the British television music competition ''The X Factor'' where they met Shelley who joined the band at the judges' request. Vice-Admiral Sir John Wilson Cuthbert (9 April 1902 – 7 December 1987) was a Royal Navy officer who became Flag Officer, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Naval career Cuthbert joined the Royal Navy as a midshipman in 1919. He served in World War II as Commanding Officer of the cruiser HMS ''Glasgow'', as a member of the Joint Planning Staff at the British Admiralty and then as Commanding Officer of the cruiser HMS ''Ajax''. After the War he was appointed Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier and then Deputy Controller at the Admiralty. Jeffrey Hambley Cuthbert (born 4 June 1948) is a Welsh politician. He served as Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner from 2016 to 2024. Cuthbert served as a Labour Party member of the National Assembly for Wales for Caerphilly from 2003 to 2016. He began his career in the mining industry and later worked for the Welsh Joint Education Committee (as it was then) as head of the Asset to Industry Unit. Jack Cuthbert (born 3 September 1987 in Bristol, England) is a Scottish rugby union player for Jersey Reds in the RFU Championship. Frederick Alexander Cuthbert (May 7, 1902 – September 14, 1978) was an American landscape architect who worked primarily in the U.S. state of Oregon. Biography He was born in Essex, Ontario, Canada where his father was a Baptist minister. In 1908, the family moved to Muskegon, Michigan. Cuthbert graduated from the University of Michigan in 1928 with a Masters of Landscape Design and began teaching at Oregon Agricultural College. He was hired by the University of Oregon as the landscape architect in 1932, and when the landscape program was transferred to the University of Oregon, Cuthbert founded the Department of Landscape Architecture in 1934.
