Custodia Romero
Custodia Cortés Romero (artistically known as La Venus de bronce; La Carolina, 1905 - La Carolina, 6/7 March 1974) was a Spanish Flamenco#Baile (dance), flamenco dancer and actress. Biography She was born in 1905 in the town of La Carolina, Jaén, Spain, Jaén. Romero was a member of a Gitanos, Roma family. From a very young age, she stood out for her dance. Integrating into a flamenco group, she performed in Paris at the age of thirteen, achieving great success. Her triumph in France led her to tour the world; She recorded an album in New York City. Her ''farrucas'', ''zambras'', and her ''alegrías'', interpreted with a Gitanos, gypsy style, were applauded worldwide. She died in her hometown on 6 or 7 March 1974. Alegrías
''Alegrías'' () is a flamenco palo or musical form, which has a rhythm consisting of 12 beats. It is similar to Soleares. Its beat emphasis is as follows: 1 2 '' 4 5 '' 7 '' 9 0'' 11 2''. Alegrías originated in Cádiz. Alegrías belongs to the group of ''palos'' called Cantiñas and it is usually played in a lively rhythm (120-170 beats per minute). The livelier speeds are chosen for dancing, while quieter rhythms are preferred for the song alone. One of the structurally strictest forms of flamenco, a traditional dance in alegrías must contain each of the following sections: a salida (entrance), paseo (walkaround), silencio (similar to an adagio in ballet), castellana (upbeat section) zapateado (literally "a tap of the foot") and bulerías. This structure though, is not followed when alegrías are sung as a standalone song (with no dancing). In that case, the stanzas are combined freely, sometimes together with other types of cantiñas. ''Zambra'' (), (from Andalusi Arabic ''zamra'', originally from classical Arabic ''zamr'') is a style of flamenco dance, typical of the Roma of the provinces of Granada and Almería (Andalusia, Spain). La Carolina
La Carolina is a city and municipality located in the province of Jaén, Spain. According to the 2014 census, the municipality has a population of 15,808 inhabitants. History La Carolina was formerly the capital of the ''Intendencia'' of the Nuevas Poblaciones de Andalucía y Sierra Morena founded in this formerly remote and desolate area of the Sierra Morena in 1767 by King Charles III. The object of the plan, drawn up by his minister Pablo de Olavide, administrator of Andalusia, was to populate the area around Despeñaperros gorge. ''Farruca'' () is a form of flamenco music developed in the late 19th century. Classified as a cante chico, it is traditionally sung and danced by men. Its origin is traditionally associated with Galicia, a region in northern Spain.
