Croatian Mountain Rescue Service ( hr, Hrvatska gorska služba spašavanja, HGSS or GSS) is a national, voluntary, professional, humanitarian and non-partisan association working in the public interest. It is dedicated to preventing accidents, and providing rescue and first aid services in mountains and other hardly accessible or inaccessible areas as well as in extraordinary circumstances which require special know-how and equipment for preserving human, material and environmental resources. The CMRS is a non-profit association that performs services of national interest. There are 25 mountain rescue teams across the entire territory of the Republic of Croatia. The Croatian Mountaineering Association ( hr, Hrvatski planinarski savez) covers both mountaineering and a broad range of related activities. Unlike the majority of the international mountaineering associations, the Association's remit extends to speleology, climbing, orienteering and mountain rescue. Medvednica
Medvednica () is a mountain in central Croatia, just north of Zagreb, and marking the southern border of the historic region of Hrvatsko Zagorje, Zagorje. The highest peak, at is Sljeme. Most of the area of Medvednica is a nature park (''park prirode''), a type of preservation lesser than a national park. The area of the park is and about 63% is covered with forest. Croatian Olympic Centre Bjelolasica is a sports and tourism complex located in Gorski kotar, Croatia. Paklenica
The Paklenica karst river canyon is a national park in Croatia. It is near Starigrad, northern Dalmatia, on the southern slopes of Velebit mountain, not far from Zadar. It contains two canyons, Mala (Small) and Velika (Big) Paklenica. Today there is no water flowing through Mala Paklenica. The Riesending cave (german: Riesending-Schachthöhle) is a pit cave in the Untersberg near Berchtesgaden, Germany and Salzburg, Austria. The International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) is an international association of mountain rescue organization. Founded in 1948, ICAR is headquartered in Kloten, Switzerland. ICAR currently has 85 member organizations in 34 countries. The official ICAR languages are English, German and French. Structure The top organizational body is the ICAR Assembly of Delegates, where member organizations are represented by delegates (number of delegates depending on the type of membership).
