Miniatures Wargame
Miniature wargaming is a form of wargaming in which military units are represented by miniature physical models on a model battlefield. The use of physical models to represent military units is in contrast to other tabletop wargames that use abstract pieces such as counters or blocks, or computer wargames which use virtual models. The primary benefit of using models is aesthetics, though in certain wargames the size and shape of the models can have practical consequences on how the match plays out. Miniature wargaming is typically a recreational form of wargaming because issues concerning scale can compromise realism too much for most serious military applications. A historical exception to this is naval wargaming before the advent of computers. Overview A miniature wargame is played with miniature models of soldiers, artillery, and vehicles on a model of a battlefield. The benefit of using models as opposed to abstract pieces is primarily an aesthetic one. Models offer a vi ...

Crunchy Frog Enterprises
Crunchiness is the sensation of muffled grinding of a foodstuff. Crunchiness differs from crispness in that a crisp item is quickly atomized, while a crunchy one offers sustained, granular resistance to jaw action. While crispness is difficult to maintain, crunchiness is difficult to overcome. Crunchy foods are associated with freshness, particularly in vegetables. The emotion crunchy can be associated with is the type of crunch, like a crouton unevenly dressed with red wine vinaigrette or it is in the way of being pleased and content, but not fully, left on the edge, some bites are unfulfilling and unpleasant, a mix of it all leaving you unsure if you want more but you continue. In bready foods, crunchiness can instead be associated with staleness. Other foods regularly associated with the sensation include nuts and sweets. Relationship to sound Crispness and crunchiness could each be "assessed on the basis of sound alone, on the basis of oral-tactile clues alone, or on the ...

Paul Lidberg
Paul Arden Lidberg is a game designer of board games and role-playing games. Career Paul Lidberg worked for both Crunchy Frog Enterprises and Nightshift Games, and also worked for about six months at the Waterloo game store in Phoenix, Arizona that was founded by Scott Bizar of Fantasy Games Unlimited. Lidberg and Douglas Niles designed the board game '' A Line in the Sand'' (1991) about the Gulf War. Lidberg inquired with FASA about the '' Battletech'' license, but Sam Lewis instead convinced Lidberg to license ''Renegade Legion'' from FASA. Lidberg found that retailers and distributors would not support ''Renegade Legion'' because FASA was not promoting it directly, so the rights to the game reverted from Crunchy Frog Enterprises back to FASA in 1996 when Crunchy Frog did not promote the game aggressively enough. On October 12, 2012 Lidberg attempted to use the crowdfunding site ''Kickstarter'' to fund a new game called '' The SuperFogeys''. On November 28, 2012 the campai ...

Space Gamer
Space is the boundless three-dimensional extent in which objects and events have relative position and direction. In classical physics, physical space is often conceived in three linear dimensions, although modern physicists usually consider it, with time, to be part of a boundless four-dimensional continuum known as spacetime. The concept of space is considered to be of fundamental importance to an understanding of the physical universe. However, disagreement continues between philosophers over whether it is itself an entity, a relationship between entities, or part of a conceptual framework. Debates concerning the nature, essence and the mode of existence of space date back to antiquity; namely, to treatises like the ''Timaeus'' of Plato, or Socrates in his reflections on what the Greeks called '' khôra'' (i.e. "space"), or in the ''Physics'' of Aristotle (Book IV, Delta) in the definition of ''topos'' (i.e. place), or in the later "geometrical conception of place" as ...

Warhammer 40K
''Warhammer 40,000'' is a miniature wargame produced by Games Workshop. It is the most popular miniature wargame in the world, and is particularly popular in the United Kingdom. The first edition of the rulebook was published in September 1987, and the ninth and current edition was released in July 2020. As in other miniature wargames, players enact battles using Miniature model (gaming), miniature models of warriors and fighting vehicles. The playing area is a tabletop model of a battlefield, comprising models of buildings, hills, trees, and other terrain features. Each player takes turns moving their model warriors around the battlefield and fighting their opponent's warriors. These fights are resolved using dice and simple arithmetic. ''Warhammer 40,000'' is set in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is beset by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures. The models in the game are a mixture of humans, aliens, and supernatural monsters, wielding futuristic ...
