Cressbrook Cemetery is a heritage-listed cemetery off Jonsson Road, Evelyn, Tablelands Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Melrose & Fenwick and built from 1913 to 1940. It is also known as Cressbrook Cemetery-Evelyn. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 17 June 2003. Evelyn is a rural locality in the Tablelands Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Evelyn had a population of 241 people. History The name ''Evelyn'' is taken from the name of an early pastoral run, which was named by Francis Horace Stubley (a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly in the Electoral district of Kennedy 1878-83), after his wife. Evelyn Scrub Provisional School opened on 11 October 1895. On 1 January 1909, it became Evelyn Scrub State School. The school closed temporarily from 1918 to 1919. The Queensland Heritage Register is a heritage register, a statutory list of places in Queensland, Australia that are protected by Queensland legislation, the Queensland Heritage Act 1992. It is maintained by the Queensland Heritage Council. The Burdekin River is a river located in North and Far North Queensland, Australia. The river rises on the northern slopes of Boulder Mountain at Valley of Lagoons, part of the western slope of the Seaview Range, and flows into the Coral Sea at Upstart Bay over to the southeast of the source, with a catchment area of approximately . Valley Of Lagoons Station
Valley of Lagoons Station is a pastoral lease that currently operates as a cattle station in Queensland. It is located approximately west of Trebonne and south of Mount Garnet. The property is located at the headwaters of the Burdekin River, which flows through the property. The land is a basaltic plateau covered by an inland flood plain that hosts several large off-channel lakes that provide a permanent aquatic habitat. The area is DIWA listed and is a valuable habitat for fish. The traditional owners of the area are the Gugu-Badhun people, who travelled widely through the area but made winter camp around the area to make the most of permanent water and abundant food. Ludwig Leichhardt and his team were the first Europeans to explore the area, on 4 May 1845 on his expedition from Moreton Bay to Port Essington (now Darwin).
