Courtney Thorne-Smith (born 1966 or 1967) is an American actress. She is known for her starring roles as Alison Parker on '' Melrose Place'', Georgia Thomas on '' Ally McBeal'', and Cheryl Mabel on '' According to Jim'', as well as her recurring role on '' Two and a Half Men'' as Lyndsey McElroy. Early life, family and education Thorne-Smith grew up in Menlo Park, California, a suburb south of San Francisco. Her father, Walter Smith, was a computer market researcher, and her mother, Lora Thorne, was a therapist. They divorced when Courtney was seven years old, and she lived with both parents at different stages. She has an older sister, Jennifer, who is an advertising executive. The Laker Girls are a National Basketball Association Cheerleading squad that supports the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team at home games. They also perform at many other events and venues. Jerry Buss commissioned the Laker Girls in 1979 after he had purchased the Lakers. He believed a basketball game should be entertaining, and he was a big fan of college basketball. Cheerleaders were not common in the NBA at the time, but Buss ordered the formation of the squad—a team of top female dancers who were as talented as they were sexy—as part of his vision for Showtime. Douglas Stuart Sheehan (April 27, 1949 – June 29, 2024) was an American actor who played Ben Gibson throughout four seasons of the prime-time drama ''Knots Landing'' from 1983 to 1987. Scott Thompson (born February 25, 1965), known professionally as Carrot Top, is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He is widely known for his use of prop comedy. Early life Thompson was born in Rockledge, Florida, and grew up in Cocoa. He is the younger of two sons, and his father is a NASA engineer. He went to Cocoa High School where he played drums in the marching and concert band. He graduated in 1983. He got the nickname "Carrot Top" from a local swimming coach, a reference to his red hair, which would become one of his trademarks in later life. In the late 1980s, Thompson worked as a courier for a mortgage company. After high school he enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.
