Correlations (album)
Correlations is the third studio album by the German electronic music group Ashra, released in 1979. It is the first Ashra album to feature a full band; the first two albums under the name had actually been Manuel Göttsching solo albums. The album features a cover designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis. In 2008, the album was reissued as a limited 5-CD box set under the title ''Correlations Complete''. This release includes the original album, the previously released 3-CD set ''The Making Of'' and the previously unreleased original mix, titled ''Phantasus''. Album
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), Phonograph record, vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as Digital distribution#Music, digital distribution. Belle Alliance (album)
La Belle Alliance is an inn situated a few miles south of Brussels in Belgium, chiefly remembered for its significance in the aftermath of the Battle of Waterloo (18 June 1815). There are two plaques on the building: one is "In memory of the French Medical Corps who attended the wounded with devotion on 18 June 1815"; and the other commemorates the meeting of the two victorious field marshals at the end of the Battle of Waterloo. Contemporary use The building is currently used on Friday and Saturday evenings as a night club. Battle of Waterloo After the Battle of Waterloo, at around 21:00, Prince Blücher and the Duke of Wellington met close to the inn signifying the end of the fighting. Harald Grosskopf
Harald Grosskopf (born Harald Großkopf) is a German electronic musician. He played with several Krautrock and progressive rock bands of the 1970s in Germany, and released solo music. Biography Grosskopf was born in Hildesheim on October 23, 1949. He started his career in the 1960s as a drummer in the beat group The Stuntmen, and toward the end of the decade played in a then-unknown Scorpions. He later played drums in Wallenstein and Ashra, as well as for many of Klaus Schulze's solo albums. In 1980, he issued his debut LP, ''Synthesist'', which became a cult classic of German electronic music. New York’s RVNG international label reissued the album, with remakes by James Ferraro, Oneohtrix and others in February 2011. In 1980 Grosskopf co-founded the Neue Deutsche Welle band Lilli Berlin, and he remained their drummer until 1983. Hipgnosis
Hipgnosis were an English art design group based in London, that specialised in creating album cover artwork for rock musicians and bands. Their commissions included work for Pink Floyd, T. Rex, the Pretty Things, Black Sabbath, UFO, 10cc, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Scorpions, The Nice, Paul McCartney & Wings, the Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Electric Light Orchestra, Rainbow, Styx and Al Stewart. Storm Elvin Thorgerson (28 February 1944 – 18 April 2013) was an English graphic designer and music video director. He is best known for closely working with the group Pink Floyd through most of their career, and also created album or other art for Led Zeppelin, Phish, Black Sabbath, UFO, Peter Gabriel, the Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Yes, Kansas, Dream Theater, Muse, Audioslave, the Mars Volta, The Cranberries, Helloween, Ween and Catherine Wheel. Early life Thogerson, who was of Norwegian descent, was born in Potters Bar, Middlesex (now part of Hertfordshire). AllMusic (previously known as All-Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. Ashra (band)
Ashra was a musical ensemble founded by Manuel Göttsching in 1976, initially to facilitate his solo career although other members were included later on. The band's name is an abbreviation of the name of Göttsching's previous band, Ash Ra Tempel. The name was changed as Göttsching's music became less psychedelic and more oriented towards electronica. History Ash Ra Tempel played their last concert in February 1973, their final album ''Starring Rosi'' was recorded later that year (featuring future Ashra member Harald Grosskopf). At the demise of Ash Ra Tempel, Göttsching remained musically inactive until 1975 when he released his debut solo album ''Inventions for Electric Guitar''. Manuel Göttsching (9 September 1952 – 4 December 2022) was a German musician and composer. As the leader of the groups Ash Ra Tempel and Ashra in the 1970s and 80s, as well as a solo artist, he was one of the most influential guitarists of the Krautrock (also known as ''Kosmische Musik'') genre. He also participated in the Cosmic Jokers sessions. His style and technique influenced dozens of artists in the post-Eno ambient and Berlin School of electronic music scenes in the 1980s and 1990s. Early life As a child, Göttsching was exposed to the music of Verdi and Puccini by his mother, who was a fan of opera. He also listened to radio stations run by American and British allied forces.
