Corina Yoris
Corina Yoris Villasana (born March 17, 1944) is a Venezuelan philosopher, professor and politician, who was the Unitary Platform candidate in the 2024 Venezuelan presidential election, as the replacement for María Corina Machado, who was politically disqualified. Yoris was unable to register and was replaced by Edmundo González Urrutia. Biography Academic career Yoris was born in Caracas and graduated in Letters and Philosophy from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) in 1980 and 1981, respectively, where she also obtained her PhD in history in 1999. She holds a master's degree in Latin American Literature from Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB) in 1993 and another in Logic and Philosophy of Science from Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. 2023 Unitary Platform Presidential Primaries
The 2023 Unitary Platform presidential primaries were primary elections held on 22 October 2023, to choose the Venezuelan opposition, opposition candidate of the Unitary Platform coalition in the Next Venezuelan presidential election, elections of the following year for the presidency of Venezuela. The first official announcement of the primaries was made on 16 May 2022 by the coalition, setting 2023 as the year in which such elections would be held. They were held in Venezuela, as well as in 29 countries and 77 cities abroad. National Electoral Council (Venezuela)
The National Electoral Council (, CNE) is the head of one of the five branches of government of Venezuela under its 1999 constitution. It is the institution that has the responsibility of overseeing and guaranteeing the transparency of all elections and referendums in Venezuela at the local, regional, and national levels. The creation of the CNE was ratified in Venezuela's 1999 constitutional referendum.
