Coral Cove Park
Coral Cove Park is a waterfront park located in Tequesta, Florida, right outside the city of Jupiter at 19450 State Road 707. The park is beside the Atlantic Ocean, near the Indian River and is managed by Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation. The park, which is almost 15 acres, includes approximately 2,610 feet of beach frontage (most of which is guarded) and 600 feet of intracoastal waterway frontage. The most prominent feature of the beach is the natural limestone, which is part of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge. These rocks, as well as the coral reefs, are inhabited by marine wildlife, including fish, sea turtles, eels, sharks and marine worms. Tequesta, Florida
Tequesta is an incorporated village in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. It is the northernmost municipality in the Miami metropolitan area, which according to the 2020 United States census, had a total population of 6,158 South Florida residents. History Tequesta was founded in the 1950s as a planned community centered on the Tequesta Country Club. Tequesta was named after the Tequesta people that originally inhabited the area. Atlantic Coastal Ridge
The Atlantic Coastal Ridge is a geomorphological feature paralleling the Atlantic coast of Florida from the border with Georgia to Miami-Dade County, where it transitions into the Miami Rock Ridge. For most of its length it consists of one or more relict beach ridges created when the sea level was about higher than at present. The southernmost part of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge (the Miami Rock Ridge) was created as a carbonate platform during the same period. Before human modification for agriculture and urban development, much of the ridge hosted scrub vegetation. Reefs
A reef is a ridge or shoal of rock, coral, or similar relatively stable material lying beneath the surface of a natural body of water. Many reefs result from natural, abiotic (non-living) processes such as deposition of sand or wave erosion planning down rock outcrops. However, reefs such as the coral reefs of tropical waters are formed by biotic (living) processes, dominated by corals and coralline algae. Artificial reefs, such as shipwrecks and other man-made underwater structures, may occur intentionally or as the result of an accident. These are sometimes designed to increase the physical complexity of featureless sand bottoms to attract a more diverse range of organisms. Sea Turtle
Sea turtles (superfamily Chelonioidea), sometimes called marine turtles, are reptiles of the order Testudines and of the suborder Cryptodira. The seven existing species of sea turtles are the flatback, green, hawksbill, leatherback, loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, and olive ridley. Six of the seven sea turtle species, all but the flatback, are present in U.S. waters, and are listed as endangered and/or threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Marine Worms
Any worm that lives in a marine environment is considered a sea or marine worm. Marine worms are found in several different phyla, including the Platyhelminthes, Nematoda, Annelida (segmented worms), Chaetognatha, Hemichordata, and Phoronida. Reproduction Marine worms exhibit numerous types of reproduction, both sexually and asexually. Asexually many are able to reproduce via budding or regeneration. This regeneration is most notably studied in Plathelminths or Triclad, known for being one of the earliest animals to be studied for its regenerative capabilities. Marine worms will also sexually reproduce, internally and externally, with some releasing spawn into the ocean currents. This is in opposition to the much more internal and invasive method displayed by flat-worms called Penis fencing where hermaphroditic organisms will flight to try and impregnate their opponent while avoiding becoming impregnated.
