Copenhagen Capital Region
The Capital Region of Denmark (, ) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark, and contains Copenhagen, the national capital. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. As of 1 August 2021, the chairperson is Lars Gaardhøj, who is a member of the Social Democrats party of Denmark. The Capital Region was established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. This reform abolished the traditional counties (Danish plural: , singular: ) and created five regions. As part of this reform, 271 smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, reducing the number of municipalities to 98. The reform dramatically diminished the power of regional governments while enhancing that of local governments and of the central government in Copenhagen. It was implemented on 1 January 2007. Regions Of Denmark
The five Regions of Denmark () were created as administrative entities at a level above the municipalities and below the central government in the public sector as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, when the 13 Counties of Denmark, counties (''Amt (country subdivision), amter'') were abolished. At the same time, the number of municipalities (''Commune (country subdivision), kommuner'') was cut from 270 (Ærø Municipality, from 271 in 2006) to Municipalities of Denmark, 98. The reform was approved and made into a law by the lawmakers in the Folketing 26 June 2005 with 2005 Danish local elections, elections to the 98 municipalities and 5 regions being held Tuesday 15 November 2005. Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality
Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality (occasionally spelled Lyngby-Tårbæk, ) is a municipality () in the Capital Region of Denmark near Copenhagen on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand (). It is part of the Greater Copenhagen area. The municipality borders Rudersdal Municipality to the north, Furesø Municipality to the west and Gladsaxe and Gentofte Municipality to the south. It borders the Øresund to the east. The municipality covers an area of 39 km2, and has a population of 58,713 (2025). Its mayor is Sofia Osmani, a member of the Conservative People's Party. Ishøj Municipality () is a municipality (Danish language, Danish: ''Municipalities of Denmark, kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark, Capital Region on the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Hørsholm Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Høje-Taastrup Municipality
Høje-Taastrup Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a total population of 59,059 (1. January 2025). It was formed by the 1970 Danish Municipal Reform, and its 1974 adjustment, by merging the parish municipalities of Høje Taastrup, Sengeløse, the Fløng part of Hvedstrup-Fløng and the Reerslev part of Reerslev-Vindinge. Hvidovre Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region near Copenhagen on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. Halsnæs Municipality
Halsnæs Municipality () is a municipality (Danish language, Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark. The municipality covers a total area (land and water) of 122.15 km2 (2013), according to Municipal Key Figures (De Kommunale Nøgletal (www.noegletal.dk)), and has a total population of 31,633 (1. January 2025). The municipality also includes the island Hesselø. Up to 20 km2 of the total area is water, as part of the largest lake in Denmark, Arresø, lies within the municipality.
