It was put under official management of the Northern Territory government in July 2024 and dismissed in May 2025 after an investigation found what had been described as "serious and sustained deficiencies". Adelaide River
The Adelaide River is a river in the Northern Territory of Australia. Course and features The river rises in the Litchfield National Park and flows generally northwards to Clarence Strait, joined by eight tributaries including the west branch of the Adelaide River, Coomalie Creek, Margaret River and Marrakai Creek, before discharging into its mouth in Adam Bay in the Clarence Strait. Manton Dam
Manton Dam is a small concrete arch dam on the Manton River, approximately south of Darwin, Northern Territory in Australia. The dam was originally constructed by the Department of Defence (Australia), Department of Defence during World War II to provide a reliable supply of fresh water to Darwin, completed in 1942. The reservoir itself is now mostly used for recreation, such as fishing, boating and water skiing, surrounded by a conservation area for native flora and fauna. Current status The much larger Darwin River Dam was commissioned in 1972, with Manton Dam retained for emergency supply. Since then, PowerWater has maintained the dam and infrastructure in an inactive state. Stapleton is a rural locality in the Coomalie Shire of the Northern Territory, Australia. It is located approximately northwest of Adelaide River and is situated on Stapleton Creek. Nomenclature Stapleton Creek was named by surveyor Gilbert Rotherdale McMinn in 1870 to honour James L. Stapleton, a field operator working on the Overland Telegraph who would later be killed in an incident that led to the 1874 Barrow Creek Massacre.
