Connor Butler
Connor Butler (born 12 February 1998) is an English professional boxer who is a former European and Commonwealth flyweight champion. Career A professional since 2018, Butler faced Craig Derbyshire for the vacant Commonwealth flyweight title at the Hilton Hotel Portamaso in St. Julian's, Malta on 25 February 2023. He won via unanimous decision. He made the first defense of his championship against Matt Windle at Liverpool Olympia on 9 June 2023, with the vacant European flyweight title also on the line, winning the fight by unanimous decision. British Boxing Board Of Control
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) is the governing body of professional boxing in the United Kingdom. History The British Boxing Board of Control was formed in 1929 from the old National Sporting Club and is headquartered in Cardiff. Until 1948, it had a colour bar in effect by means of its Rule 24, which stated that title contestants "must have two white parents". The British Boxing Board of Control initially refused to grant Jane Couch a professional licence on the sole ground that she was a woman, and argued that PMS made women too unstable to box. Claiming sexual discrimination and supported by the Equal Opportunities Commission, Couch managed to have this decision overturned by a tribunal in March 1998. Jay Harris (born 25 August 1990) is a Welsh former professional boxer. He twice held the European flyweight title as well as being British and Commonwealth champion. Harrisalso challenged for the World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight title in 2020. Early life Harris was born on 25 August 1990 in Swansea, growing up in the Townhill area of the city. He is the son of former British featherweight champion, Peter Harris, who is also his trainer. Harris began boxing at the age of 12 after going to the gym with a friend. Alongside boxing, he works part-time at Amazon. The Liverpool Olympia (Known for sponsorship reasons as the Eventim Olympia) is a venue in Liverpool, England, situated on West Derby Road next to The Grafton Ballroom. History The Liverpool Olympia was built in 1905 For Moss Empires Ltd by architect Frank Matcham as a purpose built indoor circus and variety theatre. The theatre was a response to the enormous success of Thomas Barrasford's Royal Hippodrome Theatre (4,000 capacity, built 1902, demolished 1984) which stood a very short distance away; the Olympia never managed to meet the success of the Hippodrome, and never managed a profit. It is one of very few of its kind left in the country. Performing animals would appear in the auditorium by being lifted from the basement where they lived.
