Matt Windle
Matt Windle (born 30 September 1990) is an English professional boxer and poet. He is a former Commonwealth light-flyweight champion and three-time Birmingham Poet Laureate. Boxing career A professional since 2015, Windle faced Tommy Frank for the vacant British flyweight title at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on 18 September 2021, losing via unanimous decision. In his next fight, he dropped down a weight division to claim the vacant Commonwealth light-flyweight title by stopping previously unbeaten South African boxer Siphelele Myeza in the 11th round at Premier Banqueting Suite in Burmantofts, Leeds, on 8 October 2022. Windle challenged Commonwealth flyweight champion Connor Butler at Liverpool Olympia on 9 June 2023, with the vacant European title also on the line. He lost by unanimous decision. Liverpool Olympia
The Liverpool Olympia (Known for sponsorship reasons as the Eventim Olympia) is a venue in Liverpool, England, situated on West Derby Road next to The Grafton Ballroom. History The Liverpool Olympia was built in 1905 For Moss Empires Ltd by architect Frank Matcham as a purpose built indoor circus and variety theatre. The theatre was a response to the enormous success of Thomas Barrasford's Royal Hippodrome Theatre (4,000 capacity, built 1902, demolished 1984) which stood a very short distance away; the Olympia never managed to meet the success of the Hippodrome, and never managed a profit. It is one of very few of its kind left in the country. Performing animals would appear in the auditorium by being lifted from the basement where they lived. Evidence of the lift mechanism and living areas for elephants and lions can still be found under the theatre. BWF World Championships
The BWF World Championships is a badminton tournament organized by the Badminton World Federation. It's the most prestigious badminton competition, offering the most ranking points, along with the Summer Olympics badminton events introduced in 1992. The winners of the tournament are World Champions of the sport and are awarded a gold medal. The tournament started in 1977 and was held once every three years until 1983. However, the International Badminton Federation faced difficulty in hosting the first two events as the World Badminton Federation, which later merged with the IBF to form one badminton federation, hosted the same tournament a year after the IBF World Championships with the same goals.
