Connecticut Avenue Line
The Connecticut Avenue Line, designated Routes L1 and L2, is a daily bus route in Northwest Washington, D.C., United States. The L1 provides peak-direction rush hour service during weekdays, while the L2 operates seven days a week. The current routing also incorporates Route L4, which operated with the L1 and L2 until 2012. Route description The L1 begins at the Potomac Park apartments at 18th and C Streets. It jogs to Constitution Avenue via 18th and 20th Streets, and turns right on 23rd Street. The route proceeds through Foggy Bottom and the campus of the George Washington University until Washington Circle, where it switches to New Hampshire Avenue for just a few blocks. The route turns north onto 20th Street to avoid Dupont Circle, and eventually reaches Connecticut Avenue by way of Massachusetts Avenue and Florida Avenue. Cleveland Park Station
Cleveland Park station is an underground rapid transit station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro. Located in the neighborhood of the same name in Washington DC, it opened on December 5, 1981. Station layout There are two entrances to the station, both on Connecticut Avenue but on opposite sides of the street between Ordway Street NW and Porter Street NW. Each of these street-level entrances contains an escalator and a staircase leading to an upper mezzanine that joins the two entrances underground. A set of three escalators descends to the station concourse, which houses fare control and ticket machines. An escalator and staircase lead down from the fare gates to the platform. An elevator from street level to the concourse is available on the northeastern corner of the intersection of Connecticut Avenue NW and Ordway Street NW and an elevator is available between the concourse and platform after passing through the fare gates. The Forestville Line, designated as Route K12, is a daily bus route operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority between Suitland station and Branch Avenue station of the Green Line of the Washington Metro. The line operates every 15 – 45 minutes during weekdays and 60 minutes during weekends. Trips are roughly 30 – 40 minutes long. There are a few early morning/late night and rush hour trips that only operate between the Suitland Metro Station & Penn Mar Shopping Center. Background Route K12 operates between Branch Avenue and Suitland Stations via Penn Mar Shopping Center. Some trips are shortened to operate between Penn Mar and Suitland. SmarTrip is a contactless stored-value smart card payment system managed by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) uses a compatible payment system called CharmCard. A reciprocity agreement between the MTA and WMATA allows either card to be used for travel on any of the participating transit systems in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. Unlike traditional paper farecards or bus passes, SmarTrip/CharmCard is designed to be permanent and reloadable; the term "SmarTrip" may refer to both payment systems unless otherwise noted. Chevy Chase Circle is a traffic circle (or roundabout) straddling the border of Chevy Chase, Washington, D.C. and Chevy Chase, Maryland. It sits upon the convergence of Western Avenue, Grafton Street, Magnolia Parkway, Chevy Chase Parkway NW, and Connecticut Avenue (signed as Maryland Route 185 in Maryland). Woodley Park Station
Woodley Park station (also known as Woodley Park–Zoo / Adams Morgan) is an underground station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro. Located at 24th Street and Connecticut Avenue Northwest, it serves the neighborhoods of Woodley Park and Adams Morgan in Northwest Washington. Station layout Woodley Park was the first in the system to deviate from the waffle-like coffers found at most underground stations in downtown Washington, instead using a simpler four-coffer arch. The advantage of the four-coffer arch was that it was pre-cast in Winchester, Virginia, and then hauled underground and installed on-site, while the waffle-style arches used in other stations had to be cast in place.
