Compliments Please
''Compliments Please'' is the first album by the British musician Self Esteem, released on 1 March 2019. Writing and recording Self Esteem, born Rebecca Lucy Taylor, said that she wrote most of the record whilst happily in a relationship, but that "Rollout", "In Time" and "I'm Shy" were written in the aftermath of the breakup of that relationship. Tracks for the album were recorded by Taylor in Margate from January to September 2018 with producer and co-writer Johan Hugo Karlberg. Taylor signed a record deal with Fiction Records in April 2018. During the period of recording she played live at Latitude, Tramlines and a sold out show at Omeara Theatre London, followed by an eight-show UK tour in autumn 2018. Rebecca Lucy Taylor (born 15 October 1986), also known by her stage name Self Esteem, is a British musician, songwriter and actress. First known as one half of the band Slow Club, she launched a solo career as Self Esteem with the single "Your Wife" in 2017, followed by the studio albums ''Compliments Please'' in 2019, ''Prioritise Pleasure'' in 2021 and ''A Complicated Woman'' in 2025. Fiction Records is a British record label founded by Chris Parry in 1978, owned by Universal Music Group and based in the United Kingdom. It is best known for being the home of the Cure for over 20 years. ''Prioritise Pleasure'' is the second studio album by the British musician Self Esteem, aka Rebecca Lucy Taylor, released on 22 October 2021. Most of the album was written before the COVID-19 pandemic but its recording was delayed by the subsequent lockdowns. The album was promoted by several singles, including the lead single, "I Do This All the Time". It received acclaim from critics, with several listing it as one of the best albums of 2021, and achieving a nomination for the 2022 Mercury Prize. The album charted at number 11 on the UK Albums Chart and as of April 2025 has sold 46,178 copies in the UK, according to the Official Charts Company. Tramlines Festival
The Tramlines Festival is an annual music festival held in Sheffield, UK. The festival was originally free to attend, but now requires tickets. The line-up consists of national and local artists. The festival was curated and organised by a panel comprising local venue owners, promoters and volunteers. The name of the festival is inspired by the city's tram network. Slow Club
Slow Club were an English duo formed in Sheffield in 2006. The band consisted of multi-instrumentalists Charles Watson and Rebecca Lucy Taylor, with Watson contributing piano, Taylor contributing drums, and both performing guitar and vocals. The band split in 2017 following an extensive tour to support their last album, with both members moving on to solo projects.
