David Saar Salama
David Saar Salama (; Born March 4 1969) is an Israeli Vice Admiral (Aluf) who currently serves as the commander-in-chief of the Israeli Navy. Previously he served as chief of the navy staff, deputy commander of the Depth Corps, commander of the Haifa naval base and more. Early life Salama was born and grew up in Atlit (modern town), Atlit. he began his studies at the military boarding school for command in Haifa, and after being expelled at the end of the 10th grade, he continued his studies at the Hebrew Reali School, Reali School in Haifa. Ze'ev Almog
Zeev Almog (; also written Ze'ev Almog; born 1 February 1935), was the Commander In Chief (C.I.C.) of the Israeli Navy from 1979 to 1985. He was also General Manager of Israel Shipyards from 1986 to 1995. Early life Almog was born in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine. His parents had emigrated from Poland in 1933. Almog had one younger brother, Amikam. Almog grew up and was educated in Haifa. In August 1952, he graduated from the religious High School of "Yavne" and joined the Israeli Army in the framework of Benei Akiva (a religious youth organization), the "Nahal". Eli Sharvit
Aluf Eli Sharvit () is a general in the Israel Defense Forces who served as the Commander of the Israeli Navy between 2016 and 2021. Life and career Sharvit was born on kibbutz Sde Boker and grew up in Beersheba. He was one of three children born to Yosef and Esther Sharvit, History of the Jews in Morocco, Moroccan Jewish immigrants to Israel. He attended the Makif Alef school in Beersheba. Ram Rothberg
Aluf Ram Rothberg (; born February 5, 1964) is a retired admiral in the Israel Defense Forces who was the head of the Israel Navy. Service history Rothberg commanded the Shayetet 13 special forces unit from 2001 to 2004 and presided over some of its most notable operations, such as the raid on the Karin A arms smuggling ship in January 2002. He later served as the Chief of Naval Intelligence during the Second Lebanon War and was reprimanded by then-Chief of Staff Dan Halutz for the 14 July 2006 attack on the Israeli corvette INS ''Hanit''. An Iranian-supplied C-802 anti-ship missile fired by Hezbollah hit the warship, whose crew was apparently unaware that the Lebanese group possessed such weapons. The strike left four sailors dead and the ship temporarily disabled. Eliezer (Eli) Marom ("Chayni") (, born in 1955, Sde Eliezer, Upper Galilee, Israel) is the former Commander of the Israeli Navy serving from 2007 to 2011. David Ben-Besht (; born 1950) is a general in the Israel Defense Forces. Until 2007 he was commander of the Israeli Navy. Biography David Ben-Besht was born in Israel. He received a BA in Economics and an MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Haifa and studied at the United States Marine Corps College for a year in the early 1970s. Alex Tal
Alex Tal (; born 1946 USSR) was the Commander of the Israeli Navy. Naval career Alex Tal made aliyah from the Soviet Union in 1964 and enlisted in the Israeli Navy. After his training he served on the first Missile boat the Israeli Navy received. He also participated in the Cherbourg Project. During the Yom Kippur War, he participated in Battle of Latakia as a captain of one of the missile boats. After the war, Tal continued to serve in the Israeli Navy. Amichai "Ami" Ayalon (, born 27 June 1945) is an Israeli politician and a former member of the Knesset for the Labor Party. He was previously head of the Shin Bet, Israel's secret service, and commander-in-chief of the Navy. Micha Ram (; July 4, 1942 – January 14, 2018) was an Israeli Aluf (Military reserve) in the Israel Defense Forces. Avraham Ben-Shoshan
Avraham Ben-Shoshan (; born 1940) was an Aluf in the IDF, and served as the Commander of the Israeli Navy in the years 1985–1989. Biography Ben-Shoshan was born in Turkey to a Jewish family that made aliyah when he was six. The family settled in Kfar Saba. His family lived in poverty and, at the age of 14, he left his home and started working on a fishing boat. When Ben-Shoshan enlisted in the Navy, he joined the submarine unit, and eventually became the captain of a submarine. Later on, he served in the missile ship fleet and by the 1980s he became the Commander of the Israeli missile ship fleet. He was the commander of the missile ship fleet during the First Lebanon War.
