Crasna (Tisza)
The Crasna (Romanian language, Romanian) or Kraszna (Hungarian language, Hungarian) is the name of a river in northwestern Romania and northeastern Hungary. The Crasna is a left tributary of the Tisza. Its source is in Transylvania, Romania, near the village of Crasna, Sălaj, Crasna. It flows through the Romanian counties Sălaj County, Sălaj and Satu Mare County, Satu Mare and the Hungarian county Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. It flows into the Tisza in Vásárosnamény. Cities along the Crasna are Șimleu Silvaniei in Romania, Nagyecsed and Mátészalka in Hungary. Until the 1890s the Crasna discharged into the river Someș. Meseșenii de Jos () is a commune located in Sălaj County, Crișana, Romania. It is composed of four villages: Aghireș (''Egrespatak''), Fetindia (''Gurzófalva''), Meseșenii de Jos and Meseșenii de Sus (''Oláhkecel''). In Romanian, Meseșenii de Jos was traditionally known as ''Cățălul-unguresc''. A 1925 law gave it the name ''Cățelul''; this became ''Cățălu'' in 1956. The current name dates to 1960. Vârșolț Reservoir () is the largest lake in Sălaj County, Romania. It is a reservoir, made in 1976–1979. Vârșolț Lake is situated in the Crasna River basin, between Crasna and Vârșolț. The dam has a height of and a length of . The lake has a surface area of and a volume of of water. The lake was created as floods mitigation and protection against floodings. Created after the 1970 floods in Romania, the lake controls the water output of the Crasna River.
