Cokethorpe School
Cokethorpe School is a private day school in Witney, West Oxfordshire. The school was founded in 1957 by Francis Brown. It is a member of HMC, IAPS, and The Society of Heads. The school has approximately 660 students from ages 4 to 18. History The country house was used by Simon Harcourt, 1st Viscount Harcourt. When Major Percy Henry Guy Feilden and his wife, Dorothy Louisa Brand, moved there in 1908, they undertook extensive renovations. He died on 25 March 1944 and was buried there. His son, Major-General Randle Guy Feilden, who was later knighted, was his successor. In 1957, it was left with part of the grounds to Francis Brown, who opened the school as a secondary boys' boarding school with 14 pupils. In about 1960 Yarnton Manor was used as a dormitory of the school. In 1963, a charitable trust was formed, and in 1966, the school buildings and grounds were sold to the school trustees. Henry Purdy (born 21 May 1994) is an English professional rugby union footballer who currently plays for SU Agen, Agen in the French Pro D2. He plays as a Rugby union positions#12. & 13. Centre, centre or Rugby union positions#14. & 11. Wing, wing. Purdy signed for Gloucester Rugby for the 2014–2015 season after previously spending three years at the Leicester Tigers academy. Michael Hills (born 22 January 1963) is a retired British flat racing jockey, who won the 1996 Epsom Derby on Shaamit. He was British flat racing Champion Apprentice of 1983. He is twin brother to retired flat racing jockey Richard Hills and their father is racehorse trainer Barry Hills. Career Michael Patrick Hills was born in Newmarket, Suffolk on 22 January 1963. His first winner was also his first competitive ride - on Sky Thief at Nottingham on 13 August 1979, riding for his father. He then became apprentice to Jeremy Hindley. In 1982, he was suspended from riding for six months after striking fellow jockey Susan Gilbert across the face with a whip after a race. In 1983, riding again for Hindley he became Champion Apprentice. His best season numerically was 1999 when he rode 92 winners. His final winner was Winter Song at Newmarket on 2 November 2012. Career Richard James Hills was born in Newmarket, Suffolk on 22 January 1963, along with twin brother Michael who also became a jockey. Their father is former racehorse trainer Barry Hills. The twins' older brother John Hills was also a trainer. They also have two younger brothers, Charlie Hills (who has succeeded their father Barry as a racehorse trainer) and George Hills, who works in the breeding and insurance side of the industry in Kentucky, United States.
