Cocky Mazzetti
Elsa Mazzetti (28 February 1937 – 20 March 2024), better known as Cocky Mazzetti, was an Italian pop singer, mainly successful in the 1960s. Life and career Born in Milan, Mazzetti studied piano and singing and made her official debut in 1955, with the group Menestrelli del Jazz ('Minstrels of Jazz'), with whom she toured in Spain, Turkey, Egypt and Lebanon.Enzo Giannelli (1990). Radiocorriere
''Radiocorriere TV'' (since 1954) (English: ''Radio Courier TV''), formerly ''Radiocorriere'' (1930–1954) and ''Radio Orario'' (1925–1930), is an Italian-language listings magazine, with weekly print editions published in Italy between 1925 and 1995 under the press of RAI (formerly URI). It rebooted under publisher RCC Edizioni and owner Rai Trade with print editions from 1999–2008, then closed due to poor sales and reopened as an online magazine in 2012. Nicola Arigliano
Nicola Arigliano (6 December 1923 – 30 March 2010) was an Italian jazz singer, musician, and occasional actor. Born in Squinzano, Province of Lecce, at young age he ran away from home because of the humiliations received even by family members due to his stuttering and moved to Turin, where he was hosted by fellow immigrants. He later moved to Milan and later to Rome, where he held several jobs. After studying music theory, learning to play the saxophone and singing as an amateur in several orchestras, Arigliano became first known in 1952 thanks to the participation at the Newport Jazz Festival (at the suggestion of Marshall Brown), which back in Italy got him several television appearances and which gave the way to his professional career. After some 78 rpm released in 1956 for RCA, in 1958 he took part at '' Canzonissima'', and in 1960 he got his first hit with the song "I Sing Ammore", which reached the ninth place on the Italian hit parade. Paolo Mario Limiti (8 May 1940 – 27 June 2017) was an Italian lyricist, journalist, radio and television writer and presenter. Born in Milan, Limiti begin his career as a journalist, then in 1960 he started a long collaboration with Mike Bongiorno as author of his radio and television programs.Aldo Grasso, Massimo Scaglioni. Ernesto Bonino
Ernesto Pietro Bonino (16 January 1922 – 29 April 2008) was an Italian singer of pop and jazz standards whose peak of popularity was during the 1940s and 50s. A native of Turin, Ernesto Bonino began his career in the late 1930s as a teenage singer in the lively club scene of his hometown. Another contemporary Turin performer, Fred Buscaglione, was also starting his singing occupation in the same fashion. Music impresario/conductor Carlo Prato, who had earlier promoted a Netherlands, Dutch sister act into the very popular Trio Lescano, heard Bonino and arranged an audition for him at the Italian state radio company Ente Italiano per le Audizioni Radiofoniche, EIAR. His broadcast debut came on 5 January 1941 with the song ''Tango Argentino''. Cantagiro
Cantagiro was an Italian summer song contest held from 1962 to 1972 and 1990 to 1993. It featured three categories, A for famous artists, B for newcomers and C for groups. The creator of the competition was Ezio Radaelli. The name of the festival was a reference to the bicycle race Giro d'Italia, and, as the Giro, Cantagiro was organized as a stage race consisting of eleven or twelve daily stages, each set in a different city. A peculiar characteristic of the festival was that, while traveling between one stage and the other, singers were required to travel in an open car, to be at the disposal of the crowd of fans, otherwise risking fines or disqualification from the competition; accordingly the travel usually resolved into a huge crowd, with fans waiting their idols in every corner of the path. Twist (dance)
The twist is a dance that was inspired by rock and roll music. From 1959 to the early sixties it became a worldwide dance craze, enjoying immense popularity while drawing controversies from critics who felt it was too provocative. It inspired dances such as the Jerk, the Pony, the Watusi, the Mashed Potato, the Monkey, and the Funky Chicken, but none was as popular. Having seen teenagers in Tampa, Florida, doing the dance, Hank Ballard wrote " The Twist", which became the B-side of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters' 1959 single "Teardrops on Your Letter". Dick Clark, having noticed the dance becoming popular among teenagers, recommended to Cameo Records that the more wholesome Chubby Checker rerecord the song, which was released in 1959 and became a number one hit in 1960.
