Clutch (band)
Clutch is an American Rock music, rock band from Germantown, Maryland. Since its formation in 1991, the band lineup has included Tim Sult (lead guitar), Dan Maines (bass), Jean-Paul Gaster (drums), and Neil Fallon (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards). To date, Clutch has released thirteen studio albums, and several rarities and live albums. Since 2008, the band has been signed to their own record label, Weathermaker Music. Clutch is one of the pioneers of stoner rock. History Early years and breakthrough: 1991–2003 Clutch was formed in 1991 by bassist Dan Maines, drummer Jean-Paul Gaster, lead guitarist Tim Sult, and lead vocalist Roger Smalls (vocals) in Germantown, Maryland. Before settling on the name Clutch, the band used the early names Glut Trip and Moral Minority. Germantown is an urbanized census-designated place in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. With a population of 91,249 as of the 2020 census, it is the third-most populous community in Maryland, after Baltimore and Columbia, Maryland, Columbia. Germantown is located approximately outside the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C., and is an important part of the Washington metropolitan area. Neil Fallon (born October 25, 1971) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Clutch. He is also the lead singer for The Company Band and Dunsmuir, and joined The Bakerton Group on guitar starting with their ''El Rojo'' album. ''The Elephant Riders'' is the third full-length album by the band Clutch, released April 14, 1998, on Columbia Records, the only album Clutch made for the label. Recording and release It was produced by Jack Douglas (whose other credits include The Who, Aerosmith, Blue Öyster Cult, John Lennon, James Gang and Mountain). The band convened in a 100-year-old house in West Virginia which they lodged in while making the album. Several incidents the band members experienced during their residence there became inspirations for some of the songs, notably in "The Soapmakers" and "Wishbone". ''Clutch'' is the second full-length album by American rock band Clutch. It was released on May 9, 1995 through East West Records. The album is considered a staple of the 1990s stoner rock genre. Recording and release ''Clutch'' saw the return of "Uncle Punchy" Lawrence Packer to the production of the album and a return to Uncle Punchy Studios in Silver Spring, Maryland. Music and lyrics This album captures the band's modus operandi of exploring new styles and genres, with an apparent injection of funk metal into the songs, drawing comparisons to Primus. The album is considered to be the point where the band had begun to evolve and expand on their stoner and blues rock roots. ''Passive Restraints'' is the second EP by American rock band Clutch, released in April 1992 via Earache Records. A reissue called '' Impetus'' was released in 1997 with extra songs. Recording and release It was a three-song EP with some early punk/metal tracks that don't make the live set list much anymore, though they were a good example of their influence by bands such as Bad Brains. Prong is an American heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in New York City in 1986. The band is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor, Prong's sole constant member. To date, Prong discography, they have released 13 studio albums (including a covers album), one live album, four EPs, one DVD and one remix album. Colin Larkin (born 1949) is a British music writer. He founded and was the editor-in-chief of '' The Encyclopedia of Popular Music''.
