North (; ; ) is one of the four multi-member constituencies of the Chamber of Deputies, the national legislature of Luxembourg. The constituency was established in 1919 following the introduction of proportional representation for elections to the Chamber of Deputies. It consists of the cantons of Clervaux, Diekirch, Redange, Vianden and Wiltz. The constituency currently elects nine of the 60 members of the Chamber of Deputies using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2023 general election it had 52,922 registered electors. Constituencies (; ; ) are used to elect representatives ('deputies') to Luxembourg's unicameral national legislature, the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg, Chamber of Deputies. Electoral law in Luxembourg is dictated by Articles 51, 52, and 53 of the Constitution of Luxembourg, Constitution. The number of deputies is set at sixty, and boundaries of the constituencies are based on administrative Cantons of Luxembourg, cantonal boundaries. Proportional Representation
Proportional representation (PR) refers to any electoral system under which subgroups of an electorate are reflected proportionately in the elected body. The concept applies mainly to political divisions (Political party, political parties) among voters. The aim of such systems is that all votes cast contribute to the result so that each representative in an assembly is mandated by a roughly equal number of voters, and therefore all votes have equal weight.
