Cinnamon Toast Records
Cinnamon Toast Records was a Record label, record label from Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was inspired by the American label Simple Machines and was run by Walter Forsyth, Lee Ann Gillan, Shawn Duggan, Colin MacKenzie, Robert Jeans and Miroslav Wiesner. Born out of an influx of local alternative music being created in Halifax during the early 1990s, Cinnamon Toast Records released a number of limited Single (music), 7-inch singles, each in a different colour. Cinnamon Toast Records' first single was a 7-inch pressing of the Halifax band Bubaiskull in 1992. Other notable releases are the first Jale single and a split pressing of Sloan and Eric's Trip in 1993, a Rebecca West CD in 1995, as well as a number of full length Plumtree (band), Plumtree CDs. The Hardship Post
The Hardship Post was a Canadian alternative rock band that formed in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1992. The band moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, during the Halifax Pop Explosion of the early 1990s. The band originally consisted of vocalist and guitarist Sebastian Lippa, bassist Mike Kean and drummer Matt Clarke. Initially signed to Murderecords, they released the EPs ''Mood Ring'' and ''Hack'' in 1993, and undertook their first cross-Canada tour to support the recordings. Dreamcake
''Dreamcake'' is the first album by the Halifax, Nova Scotia, band Jale. It was released in 1994 on Sub Pop Records. The only Jale album with the singer-songwriter-drummer Alyson McLeod, the songs on ''Dreamcake'' are considered edgier and more emotional than those of Jale's later work. The closing track, "Promise", written by Jennifer Pierce and Patrick Pentland of Sloan, and sung by Pierce, was released as a single. Critical reception The ''Chicago Reader'' wrote that the album "displays a precocious craft that lifts alewell above one-trick-pony status." Forever Again
''Forever Again'' is the second studio album by the Canadian indie band Eric's Trip. The album was recorded and mixed by the band's guitarist, Rick White. Sessions for the album took place at band members' homes and at White's home studio, Stereo Mountain. It was released by Seattle's Sub Pop records as SP 268, in LP, CD and cassette formats. The album documents the romantic parting of White and Julie Doiron, as well as White's issues with drug use. The first few hundred copies of the vinyl LP ordered by mail-order included a bonus 7-inch EP with a comic book sleeve titled ''Notes From Stereo Mountain''. The EP is one of the rarest items in the Eric's Trip catalog. Six Finger Satellite (a.k.a. 6FS) is an American rock band from Providence, Rhode Island. Described by former member John MacLean as "a post-punk band utilizing dance music elements", Six Finger Satellite's eclectic sound is driven synthesizers as well as more traditional rock instrumentation. Zumpano was a Canadian power pop group in the 1990s. The band, whose music style resembled such contemporaries as Sloan and The Super Friendz, consisted of vocalist/guitarist Carl Newman, keyboardist Michael Ledwidge, bassist Stefan Niemann, and drummer Jason Zumpano. The Spinanes
The Spinanes were an American indie rock band, primarily active during the 1990s. The band was founded by and initially consisted only of singer-songwriter/guitarist Rebecca Gates and drummer Scott Plouf. They released three albums on the Sub Pop label before Gates retired the name in 2001 and began releasing music as a solo artist; Plouf began playing with Built to Spill in 1996 and left The Spinanes shortly thereafter to become their permanent drummer. Sunny Day Real Estate is an American emo band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1992. The band currently consists of founding members Jeremy Enigk (vocals, guitar), Dan Hoerner (guitar) and William Goldsmith (drums), alongside Greg Suran (guitar), who originally played with the band between 2000 and 2001, and Chris Jordan (bass), who joined the band in 2022. Redd Kross is an American Rock music, rock band from Hawthorne, California, who had their roots in 1978 in a punk rock band called the Tourists, which was started by brothers Jeff and Steven Shane McDonald, Steve McDonald while Steve was still in middle school. With the addition of friends Greg Hetson and John Stielow on drums, the band's first gig was opening for Black Flag (band), Black Flag. The band has since released eight albums and three EPs. Lou Barlow
Louis Knox Barlow (born July 17, 1966) is an American alternative rock musician and songwriter. A founding member of the groups Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion, Barlow is credited with helping to pioneer the lo-fi style of rock music in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His first band, which was formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, was Deep Wound. Barlow has released four solo albums. Early life Barlow was born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised in Jackson, Michigan, and Westfield, Massachusetts. Dinosaur Jr. Barlow attended high school in Westfield, Massachusetts, where he met Scott Helland. The two formed the Massachusetts-based hardcore punk band Deep Wound.
