Château Haut-Batailley is a winery in the Pauillac appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was part of the property that was classified as one of eighteen ''Cinquièmes Crus'' (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. History Historically the estate was part of Château Batailley until its purchase by the brothers François and Marcel Borie in 1932, and division into two properties 1942, in order to prevent inheritance difficulties. The smaller part which did not include the Batailley château became the property of François Borie who added to its vineyards with land acquisitions from Château Duhart-Milon while also running Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. Following his death in 1953, the property passed on to his daughter Françoise de Brest-Borie, while being administered by her brother and Ducru-Beaucaillou owner Jean-Eugène Borie. Pauillac
Pauillac (; oc, Paulhac) is a municipality in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. The city is mid-way between Bordeaux and the Pointe de Grave, along the Gironde, the largest estuary in western Europe. Bordeaux Wine Official Classification Of 1855
The Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 resulted from the 1855 Exposition Universelle de Paris, when Emperor Napoleon III requested a classification system for France's best Bordeaux wines that were to be on display for visitors from around the world. Brokers from the wine industry ranked the wines according to a château's reputation and trading price, which at that time was directly related to quality. The wines were ranked in importance from first to fifth growths ('' crus''). All of the red wines that made it on the list came from the Médoc region except for one: Château Haut-Brion from Graves. Château Batailley is a winery in the Pauillac appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a winery in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is also the name of the red wine produced by this property. The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen ''Deuxièmes Crus'' (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
