Chuadanga-1 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2008 by Solaiman Haque Joarder of the Awami League. Solaiman Haque Joarder
Solaiman Haque Joarder also known as Solaiman Haque Joarder Selun is an Awami League politician and the incumbent member of parliament for Chuadanga-1. Early life Joarder was born on 15 March 1946. He completed his education up to S.S.C. or grade ten. During the Bangladesh Liberation war he served in the Mukti Bahini. Career Joarder was nominated by Awami League to contest the 1991 parliamentary election from Chuadanga-1. He lost the election with 53,535 votes to Miah Mohammed Monsur Ali of Bangladesh Nationalist party who received 55,387. Joarder received the Awami League nomination to contest the General Election of June 1996 from Chuadanga-1. He won 77,489 votes but lost the election to Shamsuzzaman Dudu of Bangladesh Nationalist Party who received 89,786 votes. The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament, or MP. The 11th National Parliamentary Election was held on 30 December 2018. Elections to the body are held every five years, unless a parliament is dissolved earlier by the President of Bangladesh. Mohammad Bazlul Huda
Mohammad Bazlul Huda (died 28 January 2010) was a Bangladeshi Army officer who was convicted of the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, president of Bangladesh. On 28 January 2010, Bazlul was hanged along with Syed Faruque Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Mohiuddin Ahmed, and A.K.M. Mohiuddin Ahmed in Old Dhaka Central Jail. Career In 1973, Captain Huda was posted to 1st Field Artillery Regiment in Comilla Cantonment along with Major Shariful Haque Dalim. Dalim had gotten into a scuffle with the sons of Awami League leader Gazi Golam Mostafa. Later some officers and soldiers attacked the residence of Mostofa. 2014 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 5 January 2014, in accordance with the constitutional requirement that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 24 January 2014. The elections were not free and fair. They were preceded by a government crackdown on the opposition, with Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Opposition leader Khaleda Zia was put under house arrest. There were widespread arrests of other opposition members, violence and strikes by the opposition, attacks on religious minorities, and extrajudicial killings by the government, with around 21 people killed on election day. 2008 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 29 December 2008. The two main parties in the election were the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Khaleda Zia, and the Bangladesh Awami League Party, led by Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Awami League Party formed a fourteen-party Grand Alliance including Ershad's Jatiya Party, while the BNP formed a four-party alliance which included the Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami. The election was originally scheduled for January 2007, but it was postponed by a military-controlled caretaker government for an extended period of time. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for the Awami League-led grand alliance, which won 263 seats out 300. General elections were held in Bangladesh on 1 October 2001. The 300 single-seat constituencies of the Jatiya Sangsad were contested by 1,935 candidates representing 54 parties and including 484 independents. The elections were the second to be held under the caretaker government concept, introduced in 1996.
