Christian Bernt Apenes
Christian Bernt Apenes (19 February 1902 – 20 October 1976) was a Norwegian judge and politician. Personal life He was born in Fredrikstad, Fredriksstad. He was the son of a ship-broker, Georg Apenes (1869–1902), and his wife Kitty, née Mørch (1872–1958). His brother Ola Apenes, Ola was an engineer, archaeologist and Norwegian Armed Forces in exile, volunteer soldier during the Second World War. In 1939, he married an engineer's daughter, Inger-Johanne Framholdt Johansen (born 1917). Their son Georg Apenes (1940–2016) became an MP and director of the Norwegian Data Inspectorate. Inger-Johanne Apenes was murdered in 1978, after Christian's death. The case was unsolved until 2007, when someone confessed to the murder. By that time, however, the case was juridically obsolete. Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a List of cities in Norway, city and Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Østfold Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by Frederick II of Denmark, King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see ''formannskapsdistrikt''). The rural municipality of Glemmen was merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1964. The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society while the medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements.It is suspended from a ribbon in the colours of the Royal Standard of Norway. The Borgarsyssel Museum is a museum located at Sarpsborg in Østfold county, Norway. The museum was named after ''Borgarsysla'', the Old Norse name of Østfold county. Fredrikstad Bryggeri
Fredrikstad Bryggeri, formerly Fredriksstad Bryggeri, was a brewery based in Fredrikstad, Norway, operating between 1877 and 2001. It was established on 12 June 1877, mainly backed by the city's timber merchant capital. Carl Johan Kiønig was the first managing director, serving until 1921, and Mads Wiel Stang the first chairman. In 1980, Fredrikstad Bryggeri bought out its competitor in Fredrikstad, Brynildsen, where soft drink production ceased. Fredrikstad Bryggeri's competitor in the neighboring city Sarpsborg, Borg Bryggerier, was also a party in the acquisition, and there were talks about merging the remaining breweries. In 1989 Fredrikstad Bryggeri was merged with Borg. The brewery itself continued to produce beer until it too was closed in 2001.
