Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term " post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen. The genre expanded in the 1980s and 1990s with releases by bands from cities which had established hardcore scenes, such as Fugazi from Washington, D.C. as well as groups such as Big Black, Jawbox, Quicksand, and Shellac who stuck closer to post-hardcore's noise rock roots. Dischord Records became a major nexus of post-hardcore during this period. Spitalfield
Spitalfield is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois signed to Victory Records. Formed in 1998, Spitalfield caught the attention of Victory Records with their 2002 release ''The Cloak And Dagger Club EP'' and a year later released their follow-up, '' Remember Right Now''. The band sold over 130,000 records and performed in nine countries over three continents before disbanding at the end of 2007. The band has reformed for shows numerous times, and released their first new single since they disbanded, Remembering Right Now, on 17 January 2025. They released their comeback EP, 'Play + Record', on the 30th May 2025. Spitalfield derived their band name from Spitalfields, a section of London's East End where Jack the Ripper operated. Glassjaw
Glassjaw is an American post-hardcore band from Hempstead, New York. It was formed in 1993 by vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck. The band is known for their intense live shows, as well as their frequent line-up changes. Despite their limited commercial success and small discography, they are considered to be one of the most influential bands in the progression of the underground music scene in the eastern United States and United Kingdom for the post-hardcore genre. After recording a number of EPs and demos throughout the 1990s, Glassjaw came to the attention of producer Ross Robinson, who helped the band secure a deal with Roadrunner Records. The Juliana Theory is an American emo and rock duo from Greensburg and Latrobe, Pennsylvania. They signed to Tooth & Nail Records, and later to Epic Records for the release of the album ''Love''. ''Alexisonfire'' is the debut studio album from Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released on October 31, 2002. Release ''Alexisonfire'' was released on October 31, 2002. The cover art was photographed by lead singer George Pettit at Ferndale Public School in St. Catharines, Ontario. It is based on the lyrics from "A Dagger Through the Heart of St. Angeles". There was also an alternative cover art released, which just depicts the band's logo and name.
