Chilime Hydropower Plant (also known as Chilime) is hydro power plant in Nepal. History The Chilime Hydropower Company, also referred to as Chilime, was established in 1995 with the primary goal of generating hydroelectricity by making the most efficient use of hydro resources available within the Nepal Currently, Chilime possesses and manages a 22.1 MW power plant, which became operational on August 25, 2003. The facility is situated in Rasuwa district, approximately 133 km north of the capital city, Kathmandu. The produced electricity is transmitted to the national grid through a 38 km 66 kV single circuit transmission line. The majority of the powerhouse facilities are located underground, leaving only the switchyard on the surface. Chilime is a village development committee in Rasuwa District in the Bagmati Zone of northern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 1281 people living in 261 individual households. The Pelton wheel or Pelton Turbine is an impulse-type water turbine invented by American inventor Lester Allan Pelton in the 1870s. The Pelton wheel extracts energy from the impulse of moving water, as opposed to water's dead weight like the traditional overshot water wheel. Kaligandaki A Hydroelectric Power Station is situated in Mirmi that lies in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality of Syangja District about 300 km to the west of Kathmandu and 100 km from Pokhara in the same direction in Nepal.
