Chic Henry
Chic Henry, born Anthony Robert Henry (15 December 1946 – 14 April 2022), was a car enthusiast and the founder of the Summernats motor festival in Canberra. He was the Summernats director between 1988 and 2009. Life and career On 15 December 1946, Henry was born in Launceston, Tasmania to returned serviceman father Robert Henry and mother Alma Horton. Henry's great, great grandfather had been Tasmania's first Postmaster; his great grandfather had worked on the project to lay underwater phone cable between Tasmania and mainland Australia; and his grandfather and father had both served with the Postmaster-General's Department. Henry attended Queechy High School in Norwood, Tasmania, repeating his last year. At school he was a strong competitive swimmer and board diver. Summernats
Summernats (a portmanteau of "Summer" and "National"), is an annual car festival held in Canberra, Australia since 1987, except 2021. Summernats, which is usually held at the start of the year, is the best known specialist car enthusiast festival in Australia, and an event which attracts many tourists to Canberra, bringing in excess of $20 million in economic benefit to the ACT economy. It has increasingly been promoted as an event for families. The Summernats spectator attendance record was set in 2017, with 119,184 attendees. Summernats is held over a four-day period, with many events, with prizes in competitions such as for burnouts, parades of cars around the track, fireworks at night and two outdoor concerts held on Friday and Saturday nights. The Postmaster-General's Department (PMG) was a department of the Australian federal government, established at Federation in 1901, whose responsibilities included the provision of postal and telegraphic services throughout Australia. Norwood is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Launceston in the Launceston LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about south-east of the town of Launceston. The 2016 census recorded a population of 3734 for the state suburb of Norwood. It is a suburb southeast of the Launceston CBD. The minor suburb of Queechy is also included as part of Norwood. Northbourne Avenue
Northbourne Avenue is a major road in Canberra, Australia. It extends from City Hill in the south, to the Federal Highway in the north. It is a north–south running road which has three lanes for motorised traffic, and one lane for bicycles running in each direction, with a large median strip containing a light railway line between rows of trees. The speed limit is 40 km/h. The Federal Highway to the north of the intersection with Mouat and Antill streets has an 80 km/h speed limit. These speed limits are strictly enforced with multiple fixed red light/speed cameras in the 40 km/h zone and mobile speed cameras being permitted to operate along the entire length of the road. Elections to the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly occurred on Saturday, 20 October 2012.
