Cheo Feliciano
Cheo Feliciano (3 July 1935 – 17 April 2014) was a Puerto Rican singer and composer of salsa and bolero music. Feliciano was the owner of a recording company called "Coche Records". He was the first tropical singer to perform at the "Amira de la Rosa Theater" in Barranquilla, Colombia, and in 1987 he played the role of Roberto Clemente's father in the musical ''Clemente''. Early years Feliciano (birth name: José Luis Feliciano Vega) was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where he was raised and educated. His parents were Prudencio Feliciano and Crescencia Vega. As a child, he was nicknamed "Cheo" by his family - a colloquial version of his name José, normally used by close friends and family. Cheo Hurtado (born May 2, 1960) is a Venezuelan musician, one of the most celebrated virtuoso performers of the cuatro (instrument), cuatro, whose extremely agile strumming technique is currently believed to be unsurpassed. He also plays mandolin, bandola and guitar. Cheo Hurtado was born in Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar (state), Bolívar state, Venezuela, the son of the guitarist and composer Ramón Hurtado. He was christened ''Asdrúbal'', but the nickname "Cheo" took hold firmly since early childhood. Besides his native Venezuela, Hurtado has performed in Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Bonaire, Aruba, Curaçao, Martinique, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, France, Spain, England, Germany, Netherlands, and Switzerland. José Marcelino Marquetti Díaz (April 26, 1909 – March 29, 1967), better known as Cheo Marquetti, was a renowned Cuban son vocalist and songwriter. Life and career Marquetti was born at 277 Velarde Street, El Cerro, Havana, Cuba. He was the son of Mercedes Díaz Campos and David "El Lucumí" Marquetti Suárez, an Abakuá member of Los Chinos Buenos, a mixed band whose members dressed as Chinese. Cheo Chai Chen ( zh, s=蒋才正, p=Jiǎng Cáizhèng, 1951 – 4 June 2024) was a Singaporean politician and businessman. A member of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), he served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nee Soon Central Single Member Constituency (SMC) between 1992 and 1996. Early life and education Cheo was born in Singapore in 1951. He was a graduate of Nanyang University, where he studied in the Department of Government and Public Administration. Political career Cheo first stood for Parliament at the 1988 general election, where he was defeated by Ng Pock Too of the governing People's Action Party (PAP) in Nee Soon Central SMC.
