Chen Jui-chin
Chen Jui-chin (; 25 July 1949 – 19 April 2013) was a Taiwanese serial killer and one of the country's most infamous criminals. Because of his gambling addiction, he owed debts to loan sharks, and in order to pay them off, he turned towards violence. He murdered his spouse and three children, and fraudulently used their life insurance to amass $38 million NT, for which he was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. Finally, he was sentenced to death for raping, robbing, and killing his girlfriend, Chen, from whom he stole millions worth of money. In total, he is suspected of killing eight people, including two female friends. In the media, he was nicknamed The Chiayi Demon. Chiayi County
Chiayi is a County (Taiwan), county in Taiwan. Located in Regions of Taiwan, southwestern Taiwan surrounding but not including Chiayi City, it is the sixth largest county in the island of Taiwan. Its major tourist destination is Alishan National Scenic Area. Name The former Chinese placename was Tsu-lo-san (), a representation of the original Formosan languages, Formosan-language name ''Tirosen''. A shortened version, Tsulo, was then used to name Zhuluo County, Tsulo County, which originally covered the underdeveloped northern two-thirds of the island. Chiayi (,), officially known as Chiayi City, is a Provincial city (Taiwan), city located in Chianan Plain in Regions of Taiwan, southwestern Taiwan, surrounded by Chiayi County with a population of 263,188 inhabitants as of January 2023. The Hoanya people inhabited present-day Chiayi under its historical name of ''Tirosen'' prior to the arrival of Han Chinese in Taiwan and was ruled by the Dutch Formosa, Dutch and the Kingdom of Tungning under various names. Lin Yu-ju ( zh, c=林于如, born 1981) is a Taiwanese serial killer responsible for the Nantou Serial Murders between 2008 and 2009. As part of an insurance scam to get rid of her gambling debts, Lin murdered her mother in her Tainan home and poisoned her mother-in-law and husband in Puli. On June 14, 2013, the Supreme Court sentenced her to death, making Lin the fourth overall female death row prisoner in Taiwan. As of 2025, she is the country's only female death row inmate and remains imprisoned in the Taichung Women's Prison, awaiting execution.
