"Chasing" is a song written by Irish singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes and is the first single release from her fifth studio album '' Bones + Longing''. Background and release The song was revealed as the first single release in September 2014. It was released to fans for free who supported her Pledge Music campaign on 9 October 2014 and became available in the iTunes Store in Ireland, UK, US and Canada as part of the albums pre-orders. On 9 October 2014 the full version of the single appeared on ''Beat''s website. On 14 November 2014 a remixed version of the song was revealed through Clash Magazine ''Clash'' is a music and fashion magazine and website based in the United Kingdom. Gemma Hayes
Gemma Hayes (born 11 August 1977) is an Irish musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments, including the piano and the harmonica. She is also a member of The Cake Sale, Printer Clips and Trio (with Lisa Hannigan and Paul Noonan). Early life Hayes grew up in Ballyporeen, County Tipperary with her parents and seven other siblings. She was surrounded by music from an early age heavily influenced by her siblings and her father who was a keyboardist in a local band. Hayes would later move to County Limerick to attend boarding school. By this time, Hayes was proficient at piano and found that the music used to counter the boredom of living in a small village. She would later move to Dublin, Dublin City to attend University College Dublin, UCD to study sociology, psychology and history. ''Bones + Longing'' is the fifth studio album by Irish singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes. The album was released on 14 November in Ireland and on 17 November in the UK, the US and Canada. It was released elsewhere around the world on 2 March 2015 and German speaking territories on 6 March 2015, with a vinyl release on 12 June 2015. The album was recorded in Dublin, Noyant-la-Gravoyère and London. Background and development In June 2012, Gemma Hayes announced she was writing new material in Ireland. Hayes had previously planned to move back to Los Angeles to work on the album, but later decided against this decision and continued to reside in Dublin. Dave Odlum
David Odlum is an Irish music producer, engineer, guitarist, and drummer who has worked and played with Academy Award winners and Mercury Prize nominees. Originally a member of Kíla, a band which was founded during his schooldays at Coláiste Eoin, he left them and joined rock group The Frames, fronted by the Academy Award-winner Glen Hansard, and with whom he played guitar from 1990 until 2002. Since leaving the band, he has pursued a career as a music producer. Odlum has established a long running association with singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes, producing her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album ''Night on My Side'', as well as later albums ''The Hollow of Morning, ''Let It Break and an as-yet untitled fifth album due in 2014.
