Charta 77 (band)
Charta 77 (named after Charter 77) is a Swedish punk band formed in 1983 in the Swedish town Köping. The band consists today of Per Granberg (vocals, guitar), Teijo Granberg (drums), Erik Ullvin (keyboard), Janne Olsson (guitar), Stefan ¨Mongo" Enger (bass). The band is a very popular live act, and often plays on music festivals. Per Granberg met Johnny Smedberg after Per's former band N.O.S's gig, at Folkets Park in Köping, and they then formed the new band Charta 77. Köping, Sweden
Köping is a locality and the seat of Köping Municipality in Västmanland County, Sweden. It had 17,743 inhabitants in 2010. It is known for the television series '' I en annan del av Köping''. Etymology ''Köping'' means merchant place. It was mentioned for the first time in the 13th century. It was probably given such a name as it did not yet have a charter. The central location of Köping deems it appropriate for merchancy for people from different parts of the country. History People have lived on the site for a long time, which is evident not least from the Viking-age boat burial ground at Norsa. An old trading post has been located near Köping. It is first mentioned in a document from the year 1257, when a bishops' meeting was held on the site. Köping, with central and southern Sweden was сhristianised in the 11th century. Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music. Originating in the late 1950s as an alternative to normal rock and roll, early pop rock was influenced by the beat, arrangements, and original style of rock and roll (and sometimes doo-wop). Birdnest Records
Birdnest Records is a Swedish record company mainly dealing in punk music. History It was founded by Per Granberg who also plays in Charta 77. The company was founded as a DIY company with the intention of only publishing Granberg's own records in 1982, under the name ''Birdskit''. After a while Birnest also took on other bands, mostly in the trallpunk genre, and in 1988 they changed the name to Birdnest. When trallpunk became popular in the early 1990s the company grew. Notable bands are Dia Psalma and De lyckliga kompisarna. During the same period several smaller record companies were distributed by Birdnest (among them ''Desperate Fight Records'' from Umeå). In the late 1990s the company suffered from restructurings at MNW who they had shared distribution with. Birdnest managed to straighten out the finances thanks to a support gala for the company. However the activity of the company has gone down and it now mostly publish records by Granberg's own bands and his friends. ... Charter 77
Charter 77 (''Charta 77'' in Czech and Slovak) was an informal civic initiative in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic from 1976 to 1992, named after the document Charter 77 from January 1977. Founding members and architects were Jiří Němec, Václav Benda, Ladislav Hejdánek, Václav Havel, Jan Patočka, Zdeněk Mlynář, Jiří Hájek, Martin Palouš, Pavel Kohout, and Ladislav Lis. Spreading the text of the document was considered a political crime by the Czechoslovak government. After the 1989 Velvet Revolution, many of the members of the initiative played important roles in Czech and Slovak politics.
