Chang Wan-chuan
Chang Wan-chuan (May 28, 1909 – January 12, 2003) was born in Tamsui, Taipei, Taiwan. He is one of the early 20th-century Taiwanese painters who traveled to Japan for the study of Western painting. His artistic creations are primarily characterized by the styles and techniques of Expressionism and Fauvism. Early life and education Chang Wan-Chuan was born in Tamsui on May 28, 1909. His father, Chang Yung-Ching (1877–1945), worked at the Tamsui Customs at the time. At the age of 32, his father joyfully welcomed his eldest son and named him "Wan-chuan" with the intention of "passing on everything," which resonates with the pronunciation of "Man-chuan" in Taiwanese Hokkien. In 1924, Chang graduated from the higher department of the Shilin Public School, and his family moved to Dadaocheng in Taipei. Fauvism ( ) is a style of painting and an art movement that emerged in France at the beginning of the 20th century. Hung Jui-lin
Hung Jui-lin (Âng Sūi-lîn, May 7, 1912 - December 3, 1996) was a Taiwanese artist from Taipei's Dadaocheng district. He is often referred to as the "Miner Painter" and is also hailed for bringing forth a "Radiance from the Depths of the Earth." Early life Hung Jui-lin was born in Shiguan Lane (now Liangzhou Street) in Dadaocheng, Taipei in 1912. His father, Hong Hetin, was knowledgeable in Chinese studies and skilled in painting plum blossoms. He worked as a general manager at the Yuanlong Tea Company in 1923, and played a significant role in shaping Hung's artistic upbringing. In 1920, Hung enrolled in the Daojiang Private Charity School school and was inspired by the school's principal Inagaki Tobei’s humanitarian spirit. Chen De-wang
Chen De-wang (also known as Chen Te-wang; October 22, 1910 - December 3, 1984), a native of Taipei, Taiwan, was an artist during the Taiwan under Japanese rule in Taiwan and later worked as a teacher. Life In 1925, Chen De-wang was a student of Japanese artist Tōho Shiotsuki while studying at . He later went to study at Tongwen Academy in Tianjin, China, and returned to Taiwan in 1927 to study painting under Ishikawa Kinichirō. Chen Chih-chi
Chen Chih-chi ( zh, t=陳植棋, p=, w=Ch'ên2 Chih2-ch'i2, poj=Tân Si̍t-kî; 16 January 1906 - 13 April 1931) was a Taiwanese painter. Early life Born and raised in ''Sui-teng-ka'' (modern-day Xizhi District, Taipei), Chen Chih-chi was a forthright and bold person by nature, with noteworthy leadership abilities. He entered Taihoku Normal School in 1921 and, in 1924, he joined Kinichiro Ishikawa’s plein air field trips. His experiences with Ishikawa inspired his paintings. In November 1924, he was expelled from school after becoming involved in a student protest. On the suggestion of Ishikawa Kinichiro and Tōho Shiotsuki, he left Taiwan to study painting in Japan. Li Mei-shu (; 13 March 1902 – 6 February 1983) was a Taiwanese painter, sculptor, and politician. He was best known for his paintings as well as his restoration attempt of the Changfu Temple. Education Li was born to an upper-class family in Sankakuyū (), Taiwan under Japanese rule, Japanese Taiwan (modern-day Sanxia District, New Taipei City) on 13 March 1902. Tsai In-tang (Chinese: 蔡蔭棠, 1909–1998) was an artist born in Xinpu, Hsinchu, Taiwan, known for his paintings. He was born into a prominent family in the area. Taipei Municipal Datong High School (DTHS in Hanyu Pinyin, originally TTSH in Wade-Giles: Taipei Municipal Ta Tung Senior High School, Traditional Chinese: 臺北市立大同高级中學) is a public senior high school in Taipei, Taiwan. History Taipei Municipal Datong High School was established in 1935 as a combined junior and senior high school. In 1968, authorities implemented a nine-year compulsory education for Taiwan. This change made Datong a junior high school. Following the authorities’ educational policy, in 1992, the system of the school was changed into a high school.
