Chen De-wang
Chen De-wang (also known as Chen Te-wang; October 22, 1910 - December 3, 1984), a native of Taipei, Taiwan, was an artist during the Taiwan under Japanese rule in Taiwan and later worked as a teacher. Life In 1925, Chen De-wang was a student of Japanese artist Tōho Shiotsuki while studying at . He later went to study at Tongwen Academy in Tianjin, China, and returned to Taiwan in 1927 to study painting under Ishikawa Kinichirō. In 1930, he went to Tokyo, Japan for further studies and learned painting from Sōtarō Yasui. In 1938, he formed thein Taipei, and his paintings focused on impressionism and applied art. After World War II, he taught art in high schools and organized many art exhibitions, mainly to cultivate art talents. Lee Shih-chiao
Lee Shih-chiao (; 13 July 1908 – 7 July 1995) was a Taiwanese painter. His art education and career began when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. Most of his paintings were realistic, but he also created some cubist works in his mid-life. He contributed significantly to art in Taiwan, as an artist and educator. The Lee Shih-chiao Museum of Art was established in 1992, three years before his death. Early life Lee Shih-chiao was a Taiwanese oil painter born in Shinshō (the present-day Xinzhuang Township, Taipei County) on 13 July 1908. Lee was the third of seven children born to his parents, who were farmers. Education In 1923, he entered Taipei Normal School (台北師範學校), and began to receive formal art education under Ishikawa Kinichiro. Lee was also a student of Yoshimura Yoshimatsu. Tsai Shiue-Shi
Tsai Shiue-Shi (Chinese: 蔡雪溪, 1884—?), born during the Japanese colonial period in the Wanhua District of Taipei, Taiwan, was a painter originally named Tsai Rong-Kuan (蔡榮寬). He was a prominent professional artist in the early 20th century, actively contributing to the art scene in northern Taiwan. Life Tsai Shiue-Shi graduated from elementary school in the 34th year of the Meiji era (1901) and worked in various government offices such as the special sales office and the railway department. Apart from self-study in painting, he also learned painting from his colleague at the railway department, Kawada Sumiho (川田墨鳳). In the 9th year of the Taisho era (1920), he moved to Dadaocheng and opened a framing studio called " Shiue-Shi Painting Studio (雪溪畫館)" across from the Yongle Market (永樂市場). Chen Zhiqi
Chen Chih-chi ( zh, t=陳植棋, p=, w=Ch'ên2 Chih2-ch'i2, poj=Tân Si̍t-kî; 16 January 1906 - 13 April 1931) was a Taiwanese painter. Early life Born and raised in ''Sui-teng-ka'' (modern-day Xizhi District, Taipei), Chen Chih-chi was a forthright and bold person by nature, with noteworthy leadership abilities. He entered Taihoku Normal School in 1921 and, in 1924, he joined Kinichiro Ishikawa’s plein air field trips. His experiences with Ishikawa inspired his paintings. In November 1924, he was expelled from school after becoming involved in a student protest. On the suggestion of Ishikawa Kinichiro and Tōho Shiotsuki, he left Taiwan to study painting in Japan. Kuo Hsueh-hu
Kuo Hsueh-hu (Taiwanese: Kueh Suat-ôo, April 10, 1908 – January 23, 2012), born Kuo Chin-huo, was a pioneering Taiwanese gouache painter. He was born in Taipei's Dadaocheng, which was then part of Taiwan's Taipei Prefecture (now Datong District, Taipei City), during the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, Japanese colonial period. Along with Chen Jin (painter), Chen Chin and Lin Yushan, Lin Yu-shan, Kuo was one of the "Three Youths of Taiten" (referring to the Taiwan Fine Arts Exhibition) and one of the major founders of the Taiwan Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition after World War II.
