Chad Anderson (ice Hockey)
Chad Anderson (born June 16, 1982) is an American retired professional ice hockey defenseman who played 165 games in the American Hockey League with the Philadelphia Phantoms, Hamilton Bulldogs and the Lake Erie Monsters. Playing career Anderson first played in the USHL for the Twin City Vulcans in 1997–98 and for the Tri-City Storm from 2000–03. He then committed to a collegiate career playing for the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the WCHA. After completing his four-year career with the Seawolves, Chad made his professional debut at the end of the 2006–07 season, signing an amateur contract with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL for a couple of games. In his rookie professional season in 2007–08, he played in the AHL with the Philadelphia Phantoms. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Kelly Cup
The Patrick J. Kelly Cup goes to the playoff champion of the ECHL. The Kelly Cup has been awarded to teams since 1997. Prior to 1997, the playoff winner was awarded the Riley Cup, named after former American Hockey League president Jack Riley. The current cup is named after Patrick J. Kelly, the league's first commissioner. The cup is loaned to the winning team for one year and is returned at the start of the following year's playoffs, although the trophy itself has been replaced three times with the first two iterations preserved in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player award is also given out as part of the Kelly Cup Championship ceremonies. Alaska Aces (ECHL)
The Alaska Aces, known as the Anchorage Aces until 2003, was a professional ice hockey team in Anchorage, Alaska. Home games were played at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. The Aces won three Kelly Cup championships, with their last championship following the 2013–14 ECHL season. The Aces were formed as a semi-professional team in the Pacific Southwest Hockey League (PSHL) in 1989 and became a charter member of the professional West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) in 1995. When the WCHL was absorbed by the East Coast Hockey League in 2003, the team joined the merged ECHL. The Aces official team mascot was a polar bear named Boomer. Aces fans were known for using small, ceremonial cow bells painted with the Aces insignia to show their support during games. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a mid-level professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams scattered across the United States and Canada. It is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). Peoria Rivermen (AHL)
The Peoria Rivermen were a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They played in Peoria, Illinois, at the Peoria Civic Center, Carver Arena.
