Central Valley Fuego FC, also known as CV Fuego FC or simply Fuego FC, is an American professional soccer team based in Fresno, California. The team was founded in 2020, and played its inaugural season in 2022. The team most recently competed in USL League One, the third tier of the US soccer league system and plays its home matches at Fresno State Soccer Stadium. After the 2024 USL League One season, the team and league announced that they had come to "a mutual decision to part ways." The League for Clubs, an amateur league, later announced that the Fuego's U23 team would be joining for the 2025 season. Martín Vásquez Gómez (born December 24, 1963) is an American former professional Association football, soccer player. The first of five players to have played for both the United States men's national soccer team, United States and Mexico national football team, Mexico, he has served as a Manager (association football), coach since retiring. Adam Smith is currently serving as the Sporting Director for USL League 1 team, Central Valley Fuego FC. Smith has held coaching positions at Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer, Fresno FC (USL Championship) and Sacramento Republic (USL Championship). Ronald Alexis Cerritos Castañeda (born 2 October 2000), better known as Alexis Cerritos, is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for AV Alta FC in USL League One. Born in the United States, he plays for the El Salvador national team. Professional Loudoun United acquired Cerritos for the remainder of Loudoun's 2019 season. Christian Eric Chaney (born September 8, 1994) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Charlotte Independence in USL League One. Career Chaney played college soccer at Fresno City College between 2011 and 2014. In the summer of 2012, Chaney played with Mexican side C.D. De los Altos as an amateur player. 2022 Central Valley Fuego FC Season
The 2022 Central Valley Fuego FC season was the first season in the club's existence. It marked the return of professional soccer to Fresno since USL Championship club Fresno FC dissolved in October 2019. The club played its first season in USL League One in the third division of the American soccer pyramid. They played their home games at Fresno State Soccer Stadium on the campus of Fresno State University. Jaime Ramirez, initially named the team's sporting director, was later named the head coach in late December.
