Central Kings Rural High School
Central Kings Rural High School (CKRHS), commonly locally referred to as just "CK", is a secondary school located in Cambridge, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It serves students from grades 6 to 12. CK's students come from the Somerset, Cambridge, Waterville, Coldbrook and North/South Alton areas of Kings County. Students from Somerset District Elementary School and Cambridge District Elementary School feed into the school at grade 6, while students at Coldbrook District School feed into the school at grade 9. History Central Kings Rural High School was built in 1952. It began as a junior high school with nineteen classrooms. A senior high school was added in 1962. The school was created as part of a province-wide movement to create rural high schools. Previously students in rural areas of Kings County had to board away from home or travel long distances by train to complete high school at the Kings County Academy in Kentville. Cambridge is an unincorporated community on the Cornwallis River in Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada, located 12 kilometres west of Kentville. It is administratively part of the village of Cornwallis Square. According to one source, the community was named after Cambridge, England. while another holds it was named for Cambridge, Massachusetts. History The community first appears on maps about 1795. Kings County Academy
Kings County Academy is a Canadian school established in 1870 by the provincial Government of Nova Scotia. It is a public school located on 35 Gary Pearl Drive in Kentville, Nova Scotia. History The first building of the academy burnt down in 1893, and was replaced with a newer and larger building. In 1929, a new High School was built and called the "New Academy". In 1933, a fire swept through some of the Old Academy, destroying the Junior High part of the school. A few months later a new building was built, the first Junior High School in Nova Scotia. In 1952 a larger building, including a gymnasium, was built for the Junior High and in 1955 a section was built for the Elementary. Kentville, Nova Scotia
Kentville is an incorporated town in Nova Scotia. It is the most populous town in the Annapolis Valley. As of 2021, the town's population was 6,630. Its census agglomeration is 26,929.
