Angelo Celli
Angelo Celli (25 March 1857 – 2 November 1914) was an Italian physician, hygienist, parasitologist and philanthropist known for his pioneering work on the malarial parasite and control of malaria. He was Professor of Hygiene at the University of Palermo, and then at the Sapienza University of Rome. He founded the Pasteur Institute of Italy. With his wife Anna Fraentzel he established a number of medical schools in the Roman Campagna and dispensaries in Rome. He and Ettore Marchiafava correctly described the protozoan parasite that caused malaria and gave it the scientific name ''Plasmodium'' in 1885. Understanding the nature of malaria, he was among the first scientists to advocate and work for eradication of insects to prevent infectious diseases. Antonio Celli, O.P. (2 October 1595 – 1645) was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Bishop of Isola (1641–1645). Biography Antonio Celli was born in Tolfa, Italy on 2 October 1595 and ordained a priest in the Order of Preachers. On 16 September 1641, he was appointed during the papacy of Pope Urban VIII as Bishop of Isola. On 6 October 1641, he was consecrated bishop by Alessandro Cesarini (iuniore), Cardinal-Deacon of Sant'Eustachio, with Giovanni Battista Altieri, Bishop Emeritus of Camerino, and Deodato Scaglia, Bishop of Melfi e Rapolla, serving as co-consecrators. Claudio Maria Celli (born 20 July 1941), is an Italian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. An archbishop, Celli was President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications from 2007 to 2016. Biography Archbishop Celli was born in Rimini, and ordained to the priesthood on 19 March 1965. He graduated from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1966. In 1990, he became Undersecretary of the Relations with States (equivalent to foreign minister) section of the Vatican Secretariat of State. On 16 December 1995, Celli was appointed Secretary of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See and Titular Archbishop of Cluentum. Giorgio Celli (16 July 1935 – 11 June 2011) was an Italian entomologist, ecologist, professor, writer, and politician. Early life Celli was born in Verona. After receiving his degree in agronomical sciences in 1959, Celli taught at the University of Bologna. His research focused on pesticides in the context of bees and agroecosystems. Writing and acting Celli wrote novels, plays, essays, and poetry. In 1975 he won the Pirandello Prize for his play ''Le tentazioni del professor Faust''. His works were performed at Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. As an actor, Celli appeared in films such as Pupi Avati's ''La mazurka del barone, della santa e del fico fiorone''. Gregorio Celli
Gregorio Celli (1225 (purportedly) – 11 May 1343) was an Italian priest of the Roman Catholic Church and a professed member of the Order of Saint Augustine. Celli lived with the latter order in Rimini until he decided to spend the remainder of his life in deep contemplation and so moved to the region's hills where he dwelled in a cave near the Franciscans stationed there. It is claimed he was expelled from his order and became a Franciscan though there is no evidence to support this claim. His beatification received approval from Pope Clement XIV on 6 September 1769 after the pontiff confirmed the late friar's local 'cultus' - otherwise known as popular and enduring veneration.
