Celldweller
Celldweller is an American electronic rock project by multi-musician Klayton. Celldweller songs have been featured in many films, movie trailers, television shows and video games. Career Precursors: Circle of Dust and Angeldust (1992–1999) The name Celldweller was derived from a nickname his mother gave him when he was a teenager, dubbed "Cellar Dweller", as he made all of his music in his parents' basement. Klayton had gained a devoted cult following in the mid 90s because of his industrial metal band Circle of Dust. After the dissolution of Circle of Dust, Klayton concurrently released both a posthumous collection of reworked Circle of Dust leftovers titled ''Disengage (album), Disengage'' and an album for a new project, Angeldust (industrial band), Angeldust, created in conjunction with illusionist Criss Angel. Wish Upon A Blackstar
''Wish Upon a Blackstar'' is the second vocal studio album (third overall) from American electronic rock project, Celldweller. While the album had been a work in progress since 2004, finalized songs from the album were not released until mid-2009. The full album was released on June 12, 2012. Grant Mohrman, producer of the debut Celldweller album, returned to co-produce the album with Klayton. Production Klayton began to work on the album in 2004, originally slated for release in the summer of 2006, the album was delayed numerous times. In a late 2008 interview, he stated that: "I would love to just tell everyone 'The album will be done by this date,' but I've learned my lesson on that one. It's hard to predict when it will actually wrap up. I can tell you that I am thinking about alternative methods of releasing this album altogether, but I won't say anything until I'm ready to commit... that always gets me in trouble." Klayton
Klayton Albert (born Scott David Albert; June 17, 1969) is an American multi-instrumentalist from New York City who currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Klayton has led several bands and has performed under a variety of stage names since the early 1990s. His current projects are Celldweller, Scandroid and FreqGen. Personal life Albert grew up in an Italian-American conservative Christian household in New York, where he attended church with his younger brother Dan and friends Buka and Klank (who would collaborate with him on a number of future music projects). Albert never had formal training on an instrument, instead picking up whatever interested him and learning it himself. He graduated from Farmingdale High School. He took one semester of music theory in college but dropped out, explaining that "all they wanted to tell me is what I could and couldn't do according to the laws of music and I couldn't have cared less." ''Celldweller'' is the first studio album by the American electronic rock project Celldweller, released in 2003. The album spent one week on the ''Billboard'' Top Internet Albums chart, at number 17, and the song "I Believe You" reached number 11 on the R&R Alternative Specialty Show chart. ''Celldweller'' was awarded Album of the Year at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards. Guest appearances include Jarrod Montague of Taproot. The album was re-released on 10 June 2013 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the original release. Background Klayton worked in earnest with the producer Grant Mohrman (formerly of Leaderdogs for the Blind and Full on the Mouth) on the album, which was scheduled for release in February 2001. There had been several questions about any Celldweller songs to be released. Scandroid
Scandroid is an American electronic music project created by Klayton, which previously included Varien in 2013. The project released its debut single, "Salvation Code", on August 6, 2013. Scandroid can be described as encompassing the retro synth melodies of the 1980s while still adapting to modern production, thus creating a new retro sound. Biography Pre-album release (2013–2015) An image was teased of a skull-like logo via the Celldweller Facebook page on July 16, 2013, hinting at an incoming project. On July 24, 2013, an official announcement was posted to Celldweller, simply titled "What is the Salvation Code?" In continuation with the teaser, their website SalvationCode.com launched, requiring a password for entry; this password could be found using hints from previous videos as well as from a riddle sent out to users who submitted a "forgotten password" form. FiXT
FiXT (pronounced "fixed") is an American independent media company with several divisions including a record label, an online music store, and a film/TV/video game music licensing arm. FiXT was founded and is owned by Klayton, the sole member of the electronic rock project Celldweller. History FiXT started in 2006 as an outgrowth of Esion Media, the name under which Klayton published his earliest Celldweller material. After years of trouble with distributors over how to properly handle Celldweller's unique brand of music, Klayton decided to take the same approach to record labels as he did with his music and handle the matter himself. Some of the first releases on FiXT were remix compilations for Celldweller tracks that were called the Take It & Break It series. The project was active from 1988 to 1998 and then re-started in 2015 after Klayton gained back ownership of his old albums.
