Cedric Humphries
Cedric Alfred Humphries (26 December 1913 – 18 November 1944) was an English first-class cricketer who played 13 matches, all for Worcestershire in 1934 and 1935. Humphries made an unbeaten 41 in his first innings on debut, though Lancashire won the game in two days by a huge margin, at Worcester. He made 44 — his career best — in his second match, against Cambridge University, and 43 * versus Nottinghamshire at Worksop in July, but these were the only innings of his career in which he reached 40. Kidderminster is a market town and civil parish in Worcestershire, England, south-west of Birmingham and north of Worcester, England, Worcester. Located north of the River Stour, Worcestershire, River Stour and east of the River Severn, in the 2021 census, it had a population of 57,400. The town is twin towns and sister cities, twinned with Husum, Germany. Gerald Harvey Humphries (8 December 1908 – 3 February 1983) was an English first-class cricketer who played two matches for Worcestershire in the 1930s. He made 26 and 4 in the first game against Sussex, while in the second two years later he hit 36 in his only innings. Norman Humphries
Norman Hampton Humphries (19 May 1917 – 18 December 2000) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Worcestershire in 1946. He also played minor counties cricket for Devon between 1938 and 1955. Humphries made his debut near the end of June 1946, against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, and scored 21 in his only innings. After making 3 in the first innings of his next game, against Glamorgan, he showed quite some consistency, his next five innings being 22, 16, 17, 22 and 16. However, he was unable to break through and produce a significant score, and after this one season he was never again to appear at first-class level. For Devon, however, it could be a different story, and in June 1949 Humphries produced his finest form. First he hit 199 against Kent II, and immediately thereafter he struck 216 not out, carrying his bat against Surrey II. Town Ground, Worksop
The Town Ground is a cricket ground in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The ground is located in the town centre between the Chesterfield Canal and the River Ryton. It played host to first-class and List A cricket matches for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club between 1921 and 1998. History The land on which the Town Ground was built was previously agricultural land. It was given to the town's cricket club in 1900 by a local brewer, William Allen. Construction of the ground required the land to be levelled by some , which some locals believed to be an error as the ground now lies below the water level of the nearby River Ryton. Construction was completed by 1901 and included a pavilion, with the new cricket ground replacing one which had been sited south of the River Ryton. The ground was due to be opened in 1901 with a match between Worksop and Nottinghamshire Club and Ground, but the match was abandoned due to rain.
