''Caveman Wakes Up'' is the fifth studio album by American indie rock band Friendship. It was released on May 16, 2025, by Merge Records. Background Consisting of eleven songs ranging between two and six minutes each with a total runtime of approximately forty-five minutes, ''Caveman Wakes Up'' was described as an indie rock album. It succeeds the band's 2022 album, Love the Stranger, and it was recorded in Uniform Recording in Philadelphia. "Free Association" was released as the album's lead single on February 19, 2025, with a music video directed by Zach Puls. Reception ''Spill Magazine'' gave ''Caveman Wakes Up'' a rating of four and a half. It described the album as exemplifying "in full and all in flying, somewhat darkly tinged colors." Friendship is an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band consists of Dan Wriggins, Michael Cormier-O'Leary, Peter Gill, and Jon Samuels. History Friendship began in 2015 with the release of their first full-length album, ''You're Going to Have to Trust Me'', on Burst & Bloom. On August 8, 2017, the band premiered a song titled "If You See My Beloved" from their upcoming second full-length album. They premiered another song on Stereogum in October titled "Skip To The Good Part". Vibraphone
The vibraphone (also called the vibraharp) is a percussion instrument in the metallophone family. It consists of tuned metal bars and is typically played by using Percussion mallet, mallets to strike the bars. A person who plays the vibraphone is called a ''vibraphonist,'' ''vibraharpist,'' or ''vibist''. The vibraphone resembles the Marimbaphone, steel marimba, which it superseded. One of the main differences between the vibraphone and other keyboard percussion instruments is that each bar suspends over a resonator tube containing a flat metal disc. These discs are attached together by a common axle and spin when the motor is turned on. This causes the instrument to produce its namesake tremolo or vibrato effect.
