Catterick Crusaders are a rugby league team based in Catterick, North Yorkshire, Catterick, North Yorkshire. They play in the Rugby League Conference North East Division, North East Division of the Rugby League Conference. The idea of a club in Northallerton had been first discussed during a trip to the Super League Grand Final in October 2007. The Stallions joined the Yorkshire Division of the 2008 Rugby League Conference. Pre-season training for the club’s inaugural campaign began at Brompton Lodge on 5 February 2008 following an open evening at The Standard the previous week. Rugby League Conference North East Division
The North East Rugby League Premier Divisions is the top league in a 2 division structure in rugby league's tier 4. It is competed for by teams in the North East of England, Cumbria and North Yorkshire though in the past occasionally teams from West Yorkshire took part. Many of the teams also run age group teams in the North East Junior League. Catterick, North Yorkshire
Catterick () is a village, civil parish and electoral ward in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, it is north-west of the county town of Northallerton just to the west of the River Swale. It lends its name to nearby Catterick Garrison and the nearby hamlet of Catterick Bridge, the home of Catterick Racecourse where the village Sunday market is held. It lies on the route of the old Roman road of Dere Street and is the site of the Roman fortification of Cataractonium. The Rugby League Conference (RLC) (also known as the Co-operative Rugby League Conference as a result of sponsorship from The Co-operative Group), was a series of regionally based divisions of amateur rugby league teams spread throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The RLC was founded as the 10-team Southern Conference League in 1997, with teams from the southern midlands and the south east, but has subsequently, rebranded and expanded both geographically and numerically to include around 90 teams stretched across almost the whole of Great Britain from Aberdeen in northern Scotland down to Plymouth on the south coast of England. The aim of the RLC was initially to provide regular fixtures for new clubs based outside the 'heartland' of rugby league, although as the playing standards increased, it also accepted teams from the 'heartlands'. Hambleton is a Non-metropolitan district, local government district in North Yorkshire, England. The administrative centre is Northallerton, and the district includes the outlying towns and villages of Bedale, Thirsk, Great Ayton, Stokesley, and Easingwold. York International 9s
York International 9s is an international rugby league nines tournament taking place in York, England. It is held at Heworth ARLC's Elmpark Way ground on the north east side of the city. The 2007 tournament took place on Saturday 14 July. The tournament was first held in 2002 as part of City of York Council's Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations. The competition was awarded a 5* rating from the Rugby League European Federation and was the first nines event in Europe. The tournament last took place in 2009. Format The 2007 event has been streamlined with all the competitions taking place on one day rather than two, and eight teams, rather than 12, competing in the Fairfax Cup. The new competition format has the eight teams split into two pools of four, with the top two from each group qualifying for the semi-finals. CMS Yorkshire League
The CMS Yorkshire League was a series of rugby league divisions in the traditional county of Yorkshire. The league was run by the British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA). Teams from the Yorkshire league could apply for election to the National Conference League if they meet minimum criteria. History Following the formation of British Amateur Rugby League Association in 1973, local District Leagues got together and pooled their resources. The Yorkshire league was formed by a merger of Castleford, Heavy Woollen, Leeds, Wakefield and York districts. There was also a West Yorkshire Sunday league formed by Castleford, Doncaster, Heavy Woollen and Leeds districts. BARLA Teams
The British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) is an association for social and recreational rugby league. It works jointly with the Rugby Football League through the RFL Community Board. History BARLA was created in 1973 in Huddersfield at the George Hotel by a group of enthusiasts concerned about the dramatic disappearance of many amateur leagues and clubs. Fewer than 150 amateur teams remained with a mere thirty youth rugby league teams. The 'breakaway' from the RFL was acrimonious and was strongly contested with a vote 29–1 against recognising BARLA. Thanks to Tom Mitchell, this changed to a unanimous vote of approval for BARLA within twelve months.
